Turning Car off with knee?

Anyone ever be sitting at a long traffic light and press the accelerator and notice the car doesnt move and your dash is dark?

I'm 6 foot 3 and i geuss somehow my knee turns off the ignition, but not the radio so i dont realize the car is off untill the light is green.

Bad place for a key ignition.

I'm 6'2" and haven't had that problem but I ride with the seat almost all of the way back.

I remember this happening to folks back in early 2003. It's a kick to hear new(er) owners go through the same things discussed so long along... makes me feel all nostalgic, warm and fuzzy... : p

Huh... 6'3", so far I've not turned it off. Funny problem, though...

Re: Turning Car off with knee?

So your knee is actually hitting / turning the key to the Accessory position? I'm 6'-0" and I can't recall my knee even brushing the dangling key fob. I must say though, not realizing that the engine is on / off is a testament of the smoothness / quietness of our V6 engine at idle.

Good point, the car is smooth! I still don't see how that could happen though, I was looking at mine after reading this today, I'd have to really go out of my way to hit the key with my knee, I am 6'.

Re: Turning Car off with knee?

I was thinking about this... Have you already tried to tilt your steering wheel all the way up? Since the tilt moves the entire assembly, this would effectively raise the ignition switch too. Perhaps this in combination with the seat settings can solve your problem. I would hate for my car to turn off without me knowing!
