05 g35 with 6700 redline

sorry if this has already been discussed. i did a search and didnt find anything. i have an 05 g35 sedan 5at. how come the tach states the redline is 6700rpm, but it goes up to atleast 7200? the other day i forgot i had it in tiptronic mode after getting off the freeway. the rev limiter was boucing off of 7200rpm when i looked down before i shifted.

The tach on these cars is slow to keep up with a motor if your under heavy throttle. It can be off anywhere from 200 to 400rpms, depending on gear. The speedometer is also slow to keep up.
