The spacer is not technically difficult, you just need to be careful and take your time. The most important thing is to not over-tighten the plenum bolts, or any of the bolts. 100 inch pounds is not very much force. The instructions have an alternate way to put them on, but you can also rent a torque wrench for a day. Or just buy one. Mine has more than paid for itself in the 8-10 years I've had it. And If you're going to do any of your own maintenance/repairs, get a bigger torquer too. I used it every time I put a wheel back on, and I re-torque if someone else had the wheels off (I don't trust mechanics to torque them correctly). If you can find someone to do the spacer cheap, it might be worth it, but I have no idea what that would cost.

Another cheap mod is a Rev-up Airbox. $50-$80 in the Marketplace (if you can find one) or about $100 from a dealer. You only need the back half.
im considering brining it to a local place, getting an estimate and seeing what i will do from thier, what im hoping on doing is asking my schools adcanved auto calss to do the install since its free and done by a real mechanic for educational purposes, but im not sure it that will work. lol we ll see

in hope of not pissing everyone off agian, i actually looked up on google and searched the forums for a description on the on Rev-up Airbox, and i find people talkinga about it but nothing on what it actually is or what it does for my car.

if anyone has any info on it please shoot me a reply, or anyhing , i cant even find a place where they sell it. and i wouold guess if i go into the market place i would look up under engine.

thanks agian buckeye

Just the stock part of the 06 revup engine. Just like many people use the oem z tube from the 350z. Just a part with better design and little more air flow.

The Rev-up airbox only came on the Rev-up engines, which means 6MT. You've got an X, so you don't have it. See the attachment. The stock one is on the left, Rev-up on the right.

It replaces the back half of your stock airbox. You unbolt the MAS tube and bolt it onto the Rev-up. Pop open your airbox and look behind the filter and you'll see what I'm talking about. I don't know if there's much of a performance boost if any, but it does help with the intake sound.

You use one or the other. Either the rev up box or the pop charger. Not both.

Ah, sorry DJ, I forgot you had the POP. That replaced the stock airbox completely, so you can't really use a Rev-up.

You've got the basics covered with the POP and the spacer. There's not a whole lot more you can do on the intake side. There's lots you can do on the engine side (cams, pistons, etc.) but that starts to get real expensive real fast. And don't think an exhaust upgrade is all for sound. There are plenty of options that will increase HP, but again, the cost can be fairly high compared to other mods, and many are quite loud.

I'm basically done with performance mods other than getting an HKS Sport, and that's mainly because it's the coolest sounding exhaust I've ever heard. You could get a tune after you put all your parts on, and that should at least optimize what you've got. But there are limitations on how much you can do without going forced induction or spending a lot of money on engine/exhaust upgrades. We're also limited with the X on suspension upgrades. Basically we can drop our cars a little bit, but no coilovers are available. I might do a Coupe/Z spring drop, but that requires a camber kit, and I don't know if it's really worth the money to drop an inch or so.

gotcha, yeah i was interesed in the HKS sport cuz it does sound pretty sweet, and pairing it with the coupe mid pipe with an hr y pipe. that sounds good right? as far as performance and sound and everything, and im guessing from what your saying after that little exhuast upgrade, were pretty much topped out and cant do much more of anything that will truely help our cars.

and also alot of people are telling me to chip my car but im not sure if that would do much of anything since i dont got a turbo. a lil help with this subject aand then i promise im done lol

thanks agian this helps a ton.

You'll have to search on this, either here or on the interwebs. But most people are pretty happy with their ECM reprogrammed, it certainly optimizes what you've got. I don't know the costs, but $500+ is probably the minimum.

ok this is for everyone saying, just save up, oh you guys bitch too much and blah blah blah

i have 2 jobs, im a part timer at a local coffee shop simalar to starbucks, i am a club/mobile dj on the weekends. and that was enough to buy myself my own 2006 g35x with 22,XXX miles on it. i make on averege about 600$ per month.

now onto my other bills, i pay for my cell phone, thats 60$ a month, i pay my insurance 250$ a month, gas averege 20$ a week, and maybe 10$ a week on stuff such as a movie or somthing to eat.

so stop saying get a job, and on and on with the dumb comments, and stop saying we teens have nothing to spend money on i just proved to you that i do, and working 40 hours a week isnt legal and even if i wanted to, which wil be hard around school hours and sports.

now with the money left over from my bills and etc, it is no where near enough to buy much. cutting bills is consideably hard to do. and uh thier really isnt online coupons and really amazing deals, everything is about the same price with 20$. so im not getting 100's of $ off.

this thread was made for teens having simalar issues and know what im expiercing. not as a bitching corner of a useless thread.
With all of the hating on here, I'm going to give you some advice.

1.) Sell your G.
2.) Take a fraction of it and buy a respectable beater.
3.) Take rest of money and invest it in college or precious metals (stocks aren't the way to go now.)
4.) Thank me when you're 25.

That was what I did when I was 17. I bought a 2 year old Audi S4 in cash when I was 24, bought a house when I was 25. I'm 28 now and it's already 1/3rd paid off. G35: bought in cash.

And to think that I could've had that 1995 Honda Prelude instead...
