Re: scraping

I have the Eibach kit and I scrape the muffler on speed bumps or pulling into my garage at times. Nothing that won't be fixed by a new exhaust.

Re: scraping

Good question that I would love to hear more input from members. I've been thinking about an Eibach Pro-Kit install myself, but I'm a little wary. My on order 18" rims with a 245/40R18 tire is already almost 1/2" less in diameter versus the stock 17" rims w/ the GS-D tires. So I'm thinking that another 1" - 1.5" drop [what Eibach notes on their website for the Pro-Kit] may start to cause some problems for me. Anyone else with the Pro-Kit installed?

Re: scraping

desig...
I presume that you are asking before you mod, or are you scraping??
I have no problems at all. But I haven't gone over any big (some of them are huge) speed bumps since the mod (2wks).
I'm not sure if the Borla rides any higher than the stock exhaust. The rear muffler is a little smaller in size, but the tips extend out futher than stock.
Eibach claims 1.1" drop but numbers can vary on any individual set.
On my install the drop was pretty much to spec.
With a quick check I now have 2 fingers space at the top ( >1.5 and <1.75")
I also have the sport pkg (dif shocks) but that should make no difference.
I love this mod the car looks so much better with very little change to ride (sport).

Re: scraping

inTgr8r, thanks for posting your experience with the Eibach Pro-Kit. Good to hear that you aren't having any severe problems. Anyone else have this set-up?

Re: scraping

From a historic perspective (hear me out) Eibach's tend to offer up more drop then the amount that they publish for most car brands. I've noticed that trend remains true in G35 and 350Z applications alike. Some get the 1.1" their supposed to, others get more. Up to 1.5"/1.75". Something to consider when thinking about Eibachs, especially if you think being that low could be a issue for you.

I'm lowered on the oem 350Z suspenison, it lowered my sedan 1" all the way around. The biggest problem with scaping comes from the front spoiler. I absolutely have to stay away from parking lot bumper stops (what do you call them?, ya know the things at the end of each stall?) My front spoiler smashes and drag's itself over the top of them and is starting to look kinda bad. I've learned to stop short when I park, but sometimes you forget (doh!). I have only managed to scap the oem muffler once, and that was totally my fault. I now have a custom exhaust that has scrapped several times at the tips, but I just fixed that by raising the mufflers up, no problem now.

Re: scraping

I appreciate the insight and thoughts on the Eibachs. Ideally, I would like to drop no more than 1" with the spring change, so maybe the Eibachs are not going to work for me if the drop varies unpredictably. Perhaps I'll take a closer look into switching to the 350Z OEM springs? Anyone else using that setup?

Re: scraping

i installed the H&R sport springs, and the drop is only 1.1"
it's the least drop i can find, and it will not drop lower when it settles like the eibachs

Re: scraping

have the eibachs and I do not clear parking curbs, sharp driveways... but I do clear most speed bumps/humps as long as I slow down.

Beware of driveways and parking blocks/curbs.

Re: scraping

mine scrapes alot, but thats cause of the kit

Re: scraping

Hmmm... Your wheel set up is almost the same as mine [once I finally get it that is]. My sedan has the Nissan aero body kit which lowers it down a little bit more than stock. Your picture looks like you have an aftermarket kit?

Socalted, thanks for letting me know of your experience with the Eibachs. When I see how close I currently am clearing the parking lot stall bumpers, I pretty much figured that with my new wheels and a lowering, that I would scrape / hit. I'm starting to think that I may need to go with coilovers for my situation.

Here's a pic of my car from the front to give you an idea of clearance.

here's a shot of mine with factory 17's and the NISMO body...

(props to Ivory_G for the above 2 pix from HID)

You can use the spare tire or the model's high heels for clearance comparison!

Re: scraping

What's funny is, the major scrape that you can see on my front bumper happened before lowering the car. Im getting it repainted although its not really that noticeable, it pisses me off!! Anyway Here's a few pic's of my car, Nismo kit on 19's lowered with B+G springs (1.5+) It said inch and a half but its def a little bit more. I also wish the front was a little lower than the rear, in some pics it looks lower, but ins ome it doesnt (mostly the pic's before it settled)
