Took my spare outta the trunk!

Holy **** do I need a drop. That 35-40 pound full size spare in the trunk really pushed the back of the car down. Went from 2 and a little bit of a finger to 3 and a little more than a bit haha.

I am getting tired of searching for used springs and think I might just order Eibach pros. I think the sports are more of a drop than I want.

But by tomorrow when I get my resonator chopped I am probably going to be about 70-80 pounds lighter, which could be good or bad, we'll see!

After all this gets done I will be onto making the car more stable, so strut bars and sways.DOMO

So what are you doing for a spare?

Well I do like 100% city driving so if I ever got a flat I'm not too far from home I'd just call my girlfriend or something to bring it to me lol

I might stick it back it I was just curious. If I go anywhere far I will definitely be putting it back in. But as my day to day driving goes I'm rarely more than 15kms from my house.

Can you use the spare if you have different size rims on?

Honestly, the reason why the spare is that heavy is for balancing purposes, .

for example the g35 is not that bad in the snow with good snow tires, but without that spare your weight distribution will be really off. in the snow your car will spin out like crazy. Just remember that before you decide to take the spare out.

My G is my summer vehicle

Stclaire: of course, just not recommended, how do you think cars without full size spares drive on the 12 inch donuts, it's just not a good idea for high speeds or long drives.

Plus with my wheels, the extra inch of wheel probably evens out the portion of rubber on my stocks. 20" with a 17" spare would be really awkward.

I really don't think the Prokit will be enough of a drop. I was debating between the pro kit (1.1" and 1.") and the sportlines (1.6" and 1.6") and I'm glad I didn't get either one. I got Tein S Techs (2.0" and 1.3") and the drop is still not that low. I'm hoping they sag more but they are still settling in (installed them less than a week ago). I don't think you'll be satisfied with the pro kit. Just my opinion.

If you do the install yourself, let me know if you have any questions.

How hard is it to install new springs?

I would think you would need a full size spare if you have the limited slip rear. The wheel size could be different but the actual diameter would need to be the same.

As far as running without a spare, I think some RX8's come with a can of fix-a-flat instead of a spare from the factory.

j4ld, you're running stock wheels though. I'm not looking to get my car closer to the ground (especially with the vicious roads up here) I am just looking to close up the 1" wheel to fender gap.

I have LSD, so I guess I'd be screwed regardless.

I do way too many highway miles to be caught dead without a spare.

Screw AAA, i can change my tire in 10 minutes. AAA takes their merry time.

Besides, i'm not some little prissy afriad to get his hands dirty

I don't have AAA either haha, a few months ago my buddy locked his keys in the car and it took them and hour and a half to respond and open the door. His car was on...

Dumb on both ends.
