You sure it is not the fuel damper? There is a service bulletin on it. Would seem to fit the description and location of the noise you are hearing. Go to infinitihelp.com and look at the bulletins. ITB06-012

Problem solved! the dealer found cracks on my 3 way catalyst so got it replaced under warranty! now i love rolling down my window to hear the engine rev, w/o that noise the G is so nice
