I wasn't happy with that setup after I put in my Avic-D3. I winded up upgrading everything after a couple of weeks.

What's the limiting factor with the stock Bose stereo? Is it the speakers? Or the head unit? or both?

In other words, would the system benefit with a speaker upgrade?

I don't want to do a head unit upgrade because it would get stolen out of the car in no time.

I got a F90BT installed with Metra 7551 Harness, I kept the stock Bose Speakers and added a amp & sub to the trunk.

Perosnally I think if you added a sub you would be more than happy with the sound quality otherwise not so much it will pretty much sound the same!

I could not be more happy with the system I put it...

Both. The speakers are paper, garbage. The HU and/or the factory amp is eq'd like crazy to work correctly with the speakers and still sound decent.. I have to admit, I don't generally mind the factory bose system in my 05, its been over 3 months and that is almost the longest I've ever gone without upgrading the stereo.

If you want to do a speaker upgrade, you should wire in a JL cleansweep, configure it, a new amp and them hook up the speakers.. thats the right way anyhow..

All the kits for putting in a new radio in the car include the HVAC controls and all run 200 bux, I would love to know what they do to only make it cost 75 bux..that would probably entice me to upgrade the stereo
