ACK! Damn California laws.

So I registered my car today in Arizona, here we don't need to have a front license plate. I purchased my car in California and the previous owner had the front plate on. I was lucky that he still had the square insert, but what's unfortunate is that the license holder screws directly into the bumper. Now I have 2 holes from the screws, and 2 divots from where you screw the license plate in.

Does anyone have any suggestions? The only low cost alternative I can think of is just putting some sort of vanity plate. Is this something a body shop can spot repair?

WHat i did on a previous car was go to a parts store and buy small plastic plugs or pins. I painted the top of the plug with touch up paint and then pressed it into the holes left by the plate.

You still saw the top of the plugs, but it looked a hell of a lot better than holes like you see above. My car was silver, so same look. Light paint, dark plastic beneath.

Give it a try and see if it looks okay.

A body shop more than likely will fill the holes and repaint the entire bumper

I have the same problem lol Holes in the same spot. Sucks so i just put the plate on anyways (we need them here)

This summer when i get back from Cali though, im having my bumper repainted and the holes filled. I'll find another solution for mounting the plate.

yeah fill them with plugs, from far away they wont be noticable. A body shop would likely fill the holes and respray the bumper. I really want to take my front plate off but its too easy to get a ticket around here.

The car comes with body colored plugs that fill the holes. Contact Riverside Infiniti or your local Infiniti dealer and ask how much.

I dont know for sure if it would work, but ive done things similar to this and had it work, tho it might take at least some body experience to look perfect: using a high temp hot melt glue gun, fill the holes, then sand the glue down with some 600-1000 grit sandpaper and paint the holes with touch up paint from murrays/autozone or better yet, get real auto paint mixed up for the car from whereever your local shops get it from and have it put into an aerosol can and get a can of gloss too.. much cheaper than an autobody shop and it would look better than plugs..
