Man two bad accidents in one week!!
Man two bad accidents in one week!!
Wow, well as I mentioned in one of the user VQ's post's, I have seen two bad accidents within two days. One accident , my kinda friends I guess equantences I was going out with were in front of us and were kind of "drunk" which I didnt know , stupid not wearing seat belts and they kind of swirved into an on coming road on vanderbilt pkwy in dix hills, ny for those who are familiar!! Another car was coming but also went in ont he turn both crossing each others lanes and hit head on, both hit there heads ont he windshield and shattered them and there car went into the woods and hit a tree, not a scratch on either of them. They were driving a lexus is300 and he got his car back from another accident a week before from the body shop, a total of 3 accidents in 3 weeks!!
Then tonight I decided to drive after my friends bugging me to take them out in the G and they parked their cars on the street by my house. The kid who lives around my blcok, one of my friends who I was with the other night the other accident occured, he came aroudn the blcok and turn fast and smacked into the back of my friends jeep with his jeep and sent that onto the neighbor's lawn and into my other freidns car in front of him. Wow, what's happening, not a great week. Thank god everyone is ok, this is really making me stop and think that anything could happen at any time and my speeding is really dangerous. This is making me realize that my life is so important to me my family and friends as well as their lives. Well I just got into my house from them pulling the jeep off my friends car and it was pretty bad, wow!! We had to leave cheesecake factory and our dinner lol, sucks.. Anyway sorry for this long post of nothing, just cant believe what has happened in the past 3 days and am being so cautious now. Martin

Re: Man two bad accidents in one week!!
Bad voodoo, eh??? Unfortunately, I've been involved in some fairly big accidents myself [in other cars, not my G and not my fault] and when I think back about them, it is amazing to think about the timing / bad luck involved that resulted in me being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I used to speed all of the time, but after some of the things that have happened to me, I am a much more relatively conservative driver now.
Re: Man two bad accidents in one week!!
Bad voodoo? - could be - I guess it's how you look at it, too. Obviously, driving recklessly (not the same as driving fast) can result in accidents, as well as driving beyond your ability or that of the car your in, and then there is inattention to what you're doing (can you say cell phone?).
I, too have been involved in WAY too many bad accidents (I define bad as at least one car being totalled, and/or serious injury or death), and in my youthful indiscretion, some were my fault (although solo - I hit inanimate objects, no other cars involved). But, in my adult life, I've had 3 bad accidents, and EVERY time, I had varied from my normal routine of driving fairly fast. Once, a deer hit ME (ran down a hill and slammed into the side of my car on a canyon road) when I decided to leave later for work, miss the traffic, and had a cup of coffee I was sipping (I never took coffee before, especially on the very fun canyon road route to work). Another time, I was with clients and driving slowly and conservatively in city traffic - lady ran a stop sign and plowed me !
Last time, I'm with my 16 yr old son and driving very leisurely down the same canyon road I normally "tear up", talking seriously with him about his future, colleges, etc. late at night, when around the bend comes 3 superbikes racing WOT and using both lanes - I avoided two, but the third young man died when he hit my car at over 100 MPH.
I was judged to be zero percent responsible for any of these 3 wrecks. Each time, I'd varied from my normal routine of driving quickly (fast), but attentively and with reflexes on edge - instead being relaxed and mellow - Bad Karma the other way, I feel.
Two sides to the same coin - you just never know, huh?

One thing you learn on a bike is that fault doesn't much matter.
Even if you're right, you are dead right.
Nowdays, I EXPECT some idiot to run a light, or change lanes, or cross the median. I'm watching for it and try to always predict where the dangers can come from.

Re: Man two bad accidents in one week!!
OK, I'll put my experienced driver cap on for a sec.
There is no such thing as an "ACCIDENT". It is a CRASH.
Every crash is caused by a series of events and if you take a little caution to eliminate one of the events, the CRASH will never happen.
i.e. If your buddies hadn't crossed the line the crash might have been avoided. If they hadn't been going too fast (I'm assuming they were going too fast cause NOBODY drives the posted speed limit anymore) they would have had time to swerve and the crash wouln't have happened. If they hadden't been drinking, they they probably wouldn't have been speeding, probably wouldn't have crossed the median line, probably would have had faster reactions to avoid the crash, etc.
Again, There is no such thing as an "ACCIDENT". It is a series of events and if you take a little caution to eliminate one of the events, the CRASH will never happen.
OK, soapbox mode OFF
On the other hand, let them drive like they want. How else are we going to get the stupid people out of the gene pool?

Re: Man two bad accidents in one week!!
Dbarnes that's horrible man.... Yea, it came time to realize that all of my speeding and want for more and more speed and a faster car isnt gonna get me anywhere although i do say to myself I will only use it on the track to speed, but everyone else knows besides me that doesnt happen. Everyones pretty rite here, just gotta be the smarter driver on the road and be cautious at even the most non cautious places, anything can happen. And to top this whole week off, the two kids I was with in the kids car my friend not the other two kids who we saw the first accdient and then this kid (my friend) witht he jeep hit my other two friends cars in my block, well I dont mean for this to be confusing the other two kids int he car with me on the first night lol, they arent really my friends and are drug dealers and peopel I dotn really associate with. Well last night they went outside this kids party to make a "drug deal" and 6 people jumped out and jumped these two kids, stabbing one of them 3 times twic e in the back and once in the arm and to top that off they took a macheti to his face and cut him up!! Then the other kid was fighting them and got stabbed in his hand and both were beaten badly, all around my area. Its sick, what will come next? I choose not to even think about it. But anyway, I just got back home from the And 1 Mixtape tour in NYC, at madison square garden. It was ok, not as much action as on tv. Anyway, im goin to sleep, gnite. Martin

Re: Man two bad accidents in one week!!
Martin,
You're at a crossing point in life. You've seen and been associated with two horrible accidents within two weeks. Now you've reported that you've witnessed a stabbing and machete attack. Have you reported this to the police? They will probably want to talk with you. What of this boy's family? Are they aware their son is injured?
This is so much more than a story about a car. This is about the people in and around your life. From what I've heard, I'm amazed you haven't been hurt by this carnage.
It reads like a soap opera - except that this is real. Scary real. You don't want to end up like some character out of Goodfellas. You better think about where this is going. Go to the police - get a lawyer - make sure you're on the right side of what's coming down. If this is something you could be connected to - you'll be sorry if you don't take some action to put you and your loved ones in a place of safety.
I write you because I think you may not have been directly involved in the drug dealing, drunken driving, and vicious assaults that you've told us about. But, your proximity to these events is more than just coincidental. It shows that the company you're keeping is putting you at risk of bodily harm and legal entanglement.
Make a clean break if you can.

Re: Man two bad accidents in one week!!
cale I appreciate your concern and now let me explain in better detail. Well, I was best friend's with these people throughout middle school and highschool up until half of jr and whole senior year when they became into drugs, living their lives dangerously and making stupid choices .. These people became scum to me and havent hung out with them until this week, only because he seemed like he changed a lot through his senior year and we were both going to a friends grad. party. Well the accidnets happend and I had no idea about the drinking and whatever, but the stabbing and attack ont hese two kids, I was inside my friends house at the p arty and arent "close" with these kids, just what's up and by but I use to be real good friends with them. I dont do drugs, get into dangerous situations or anything and im an athlete!! All of my friends who ares till currently my "best friends" ive know since elementary school and they all have the same interest as me, sports, having fun, cars good stuff, but these incidents are so coincidental. That night the police came, they were taken to the hospital and they are trying to find the people who did this. It was a graduation party, and prob will not be going to any other's lol, crazy stuff! Thanks again, i'll even be more carefull. Martin

Re: Man two bad accidents in one week!!
Martin,
I remember those parties. I won't say how long ago but I still spend sleepless nights thinking about stupid things that happened decades ago. There weren't any machete attacks at the parties I went to but young people got hurt drinking and driving and some were never the same.
Take my word, you don't want any more of these memories than necessary. It sucks.

I know dude its hard to swallow... just use this as an extra precaution. dont drive while drunk of course. dont race on the street when u can always race on the track on a controlled condition.
