60,000 Maintenence

Hey everyone,

My 60k tuneup is coming up, so I decided to call around a few dealers in the chicagoland and surrounding suburban dealers go get quotes. A few infiniti dealerships quoted me around 700 to 800 bucks. I then called a few nissan dealerships and was quoted much less. Woodfield Nissan is charging 359.95 for basically the same services. Are the infiniti dealers just rip offs or do they do something the nissan mechanics dont. Please advise, thanks!

I'm not surprised that the prices are different, but I think that could be/c they would use Nissan parts vs. Infiniti parts (if there is a real difference). Otherwise, ask them what their hourly labor rate is.

Keep in mind that if you car is under warranty, infiniti may want you to get it serviced at an infiniti dealership, otherwise, it could negate the warranty coverage.

^ not a good response.

OP - infiniti parts = nissan parts. you can take the car anywhere to get serviced, or do it yourself. just make sure you keep all records & documentation to prove that you have been following the manufacturers required services, not the dealers recommendations. of course an infiniti dealer will want to to get serviced at their shop, with the myriad checks & inspection they love to talk about. but infiniti does not require this.

your warranty will not be voided by having preventative maintenance done at a nissan dealer. just keep the records. and the extra money...

I would do:

Oil Change
Air Filter
Cabin Filter
Wiper Refills
Rotate/Balance
Transmission Service (either flush or drain and fill)
Rear Diff Service
Brake Fluid Flush

Check Belts, Tires, and Brakes for wear.

Woodfield Nissan FTW. Hoffman Estates Infiniti down the street has a much higher labor rate and their parts are basically Nissan parts but cost more. I take my car there all the time for service and they do a great job. What were the things included in the 60K maintainence? The main things I would suggest doing are at least a drain/refill or flush for the transmission, differential fluid change/transfer case if you have an X, coolant change, and brake fluid flush.

$360 compared to 800 is extremely low.

a 60k on nissans are diffrent then a g35. i hope the guy knew that. there is a transfer case and front and rear diff. otherwise everything should be same. check all the stuff. cabin/intake filter. oil change.

Normally a flush runs $100 each.

I did my own work for my 30k and its only cost me about $120-150 in parts tops and only a couple hours.
