Paddings on sedan steering wheel

Has anyone noticed that 2003 and 2004 sedan's steering wheel padding is different?
I had driven loaners a few times, and seems like the 2003 G sedans' are not as comfortable as 2004 sedans. 2004 G's has thicker paddings, more comfortable, and feels sportier. Just curious if anyone noticed...

keep in mind that you are driving 1) a loaner and 2) a car that is already a year old. some people grip the wheel like crazy and the wheel's padding can't hold up after months of that kind of treatment. i have driven some 2003.5 loaners whose steering wheels felt much slimmer and slicker (no leather feel anymore) than my 2003. just a thought.

Yup, steering wheel padding change was part of the '04 upgrade offering a plumpier feel.

Wear white cotton gloves like the Japanese do to avoid skin oils acids from discoloring the steering wheel........remember to take shoes off before entering the car.......use special driving shoes..........no wonder Americans get dirty carpets/steering wheels.

You think I'm kidding don't you.........Japanese car hygiene. Cloth seats with beautiful white cotton batten lace edge doilies.

Strange western people like to sit on the skins of dead sacred animals........leather in India? say what.......no wonder we are taking "der -jobs"......South Park = People from Future invade US taking "der jobs".

Sunday morning humor.

My G is 2003.5 and it came like what you described; slimmer and slicker... But it does have the leather wrap and it was definitely new when I bought it.

Thx723: Thanks for the confirmation. I wish I could have waited just a month more... coz it feels a lot better....

Q45tech: Thanks for the sunday humor. I know what you are talking about and I've seen it a lot more times than you can imagine. LOL

Never been to India, anyone know what they use to wrap steering wheels...............vinyl, cotton, or wood?

What did you do to the steering wheel? I can't decide if I like it or not , but I'm sure there is nothing else in the car to match it. What made you want to do it?

Any pics with it in the car?
