Should I Change Oil Type?

I am approaching 50,000 miles and wonder now is the time to change from 5w-30 to 10w-30? Vegas never reaches 0 degrees so I don't see a reason to use the lighter oil. What do you think?

JMO, but I wouldn't bother, for the reason you said -- it's only lighter when it's cold. And 50k is not a lot of miles if that's any part of your reasoning.

I have been using Mobil-1 5w-30 synthetic since the first oil change.

Question. Why are you concerned about the cold flow oil weight anyway? It's only 5w or 10w for perhaps 3-4 minutes. But that does give me an idea. I've been burning about a quart every 3500-4000 miles. I wonder if I'm buring it up mostly during warm up
