Upgrade Thoughts: Z-tube, HR Y-Pipe, TB Cleaning

So recently, I was bored, and upgraded a few things and figured I'd share my experiences.

Starting state:
2005 6MT
Fuijitsubo Exhaust from stock y-pipe back
Stillen Intake

Y-pipe Impressions:
Wow. You can definitely hear the change. I wouldn't call it louder, but definitely makes the tone "richer" for lack of a more scientific term.

Z-tube Impressions:
This has been done many times before... No HP increase... may hurt torque... blah blah... Figured, easy enough to put on and take off so what the heck. And all I have to say is... WOW. I know the dyno figures don't like, but seriously, how does the dyno interpret throttle response? The car revs much better. Impressive increase in throttle response and if just for that, a definite must have upgrade in my book.

Throttle Body Cleaning:
So cleaned the TB while installing the Z-tube. Had a higher RPM... not the 1400 RPM some have experienced, but it was a bit high. I originally attributed it to the Z-tube, but after two days figured that wasn't it. Did a quick search and you have tons of people freakin out that you can't clean our TB's. People reporting that their stealers told them they had to replace the TB. IMHO, that's a bunch of bull. Tried the learning routines, worked like a charm the first time (someone recommended a stopwatch or something that shows the seconds... I would recommend it too).

So after a few sleepless nights because of my idle, very happy with the results.

Happy motoring folks.

Feel free to expand on the TB cleaning procedures.

Google "tb cleaning g35 diy". First hit will be a video detailing how to do it. Doesn't get easier than that!

kudos for getting down the learning routine. I tried it a few times and got frustrated with it.

Getting a new throttle body put on by the dealer tomorrow cause of the throttle position sensor error. $500 bucks for parts and install.. could have gone towards mods

In regards to the re-learn procedure... the instructions in places say wait "at least" and some places you have to work "within" the time periods allotted. If you pay close attention to that, it's not that bad to figure out. Read it from the FSM directly. When people post online, they sometimes don't include the details on the time periods.
