Most Syntecs are not true synthetics, the only true synthetic oil from syntec is 0W-30. Every other syntec I believe is a class 3 oil. True synthetics are made from PAO/Esters. (it is an older post, so maybe things have changed)

Here is more reading on it:http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...&Number=718643

Thanks for the input. I have read all the threads on the site but did not find a comparison between the so called full synthetics and and 100% synthetics. "i buy ams oil for 20 bucks a liter because it gives me peace of mind" really didn't convince me Lots of people pushing 100% synthetic like ams oil, red line or German Castrol. I just cant see it being worth double the price. I'm glad to hear there are guys out there using castrol and mobil 1 full synthetics. Ill go with castrol Syntec 5w30 for now, appreciate the input.

I use the same thing. Once or twice a year at Advance Auto Parts, they carry a special on Mobil 1 full synthetic. You get 5 quart and a Mobil1 extended filter for $29.99. The regular price of the filter itself is about $12 bucks.

If votes help you out I vote on Mobil 1. Use it on all five cars in the household.

My next oil change (another 500 miles till my next change), I will use either Mobil 1 or Castrol Syntec with Purelator PureOne filter. WalMart is selling the 5 qt jug for $22. And Purelator is have a rebate on the PureOne filter right now.

I believe if you maintain your car regularly and not taking it to the track often, any recommended oil should be fine.

+1 96,000 miles of hitting the redline several times daily and the engine is still in great shape with good compression.

Having owned several highly tuned and turbo-charged cars running huge boost with plain old Mobil 1 I think you could run a G35 on just about anything that meets the required JASO standards if you change it every 3750 miles or so. These engines are not stressed and unless you want to go for extended drain intervals you are wasting cash using pricey fully synthetic oils.

Any branded semi-synthetic (like Mobil 1) will do fine for non-race use...

I am switching to Mobil 1 5W-30 from oem. Keeping the 3750 intervals until I get out of warranty then Ill send it in for analysis to see if I can go for more.
