Mom about to buy a G35 Sedan, I have a few Q's!

Hey i've read arround and it looks liek this is the ultimate forum for hte G35

anyways my mom is about to get a G35, shes either getting a new one or a very lightly used one, we've actually found a pretty good deal on a used one locally(or atleast i think, correct me if i'm wrong)

2003
$27k
Silver
'Aero Package'
XM Antenna
Dual Climate control
Sunroof
And i guess all of the standard stuff like 17" wheels and all

It has 14,700 miles.

One thing i was wondering about it, is that unliek all of hte other g35 sedans we've looked at, all of the valences and side skirts(normally black plastic) are painted... is this a factory option? i've searched arround and couldn't find much, so thats my big question

Also do these cars have many notorios problems? I've read arround and can't find much except for a 'laggy radio'.

What do you all think? Anything she should know before she jumps into a G35?

Thanks in advance and any help is really appreciated.

Check out the FAQ section of this website, as well as the TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins) that have been issued. You can tell by the VIN# and build date whether or not any of these TSB apply to your car, and most were fixed under warranty (and still would be, if they haven't been already).

Someone went to the trouble and great expense to paint the side sills to match the car, about $500-$600 at a body shop.Check CarFax to be sure it hasn't been in a major accident, stolen, etc. - it's well worth the $ to avoid buying a bad car.

Some people have a problem with the driver's seat, some think the stereo is inferior - overall, it's a GREAT car, and that's why it was Car of The Year and consistently wins head-to head comparison tests with other sport sedans. You can learn all you'll probably ever need or want to know about the "G" on this website - including what NOT to do with it, and to it!

Happy Trails !

By the way, noticed the car in the photo also has 5 spoke wheels - this means it has the Sport Suspension Package - standard on 6-Spd manuals, and optional on the 5-Spd Auto.

wow thanks for the input, apprecaite it, and yes we've check teh carfax and its clean, however i keep thinking that mayb all of those painted valences and skirts are factory mainly because of the front bumper

<img src = "http://images.autotrader.com/images/2004/6/21/165/532/903527278.165532205.IM1.03.565x421_A.562x421.jpg"

as you can see it doesn't have that normal black plastic valence that all of the others do, do yal lthink its an aftermarket bumper? maybe factory? i heard something and saw on carpoint.com the 'aerodynamics body kit' as an option and i'm hope thats what this is, any thoughts?

awesome! so taking into account all the options and such do you all think 27k's a good price? they're actually asking 27.8, but i'm assuming we can work it down to atleast 27

Taking under consideration dual climate, I would assume that in addition to above mentioned packages car has Premium as well.

Basically it has everything but Navi. Try finding one in simillar configuration from local dealer and you might be pleasantly surpirised how low you'd be able to get 2003.5 with minimal mileage.

Be prepared to pay for gas if you get the car before 8k miles I mean 16 mpg city/18 highway.

I say go for the used one in the photos. The Nismo body kit is very rare. while a few here on the board have one, I have only seen one other out on the road.

Re: Mom about to buy a G35 Sedan, I have a few Q's!

flashback,
I got a used 03.5 black/willow AT with 14,500. It had the following:
-Bose sound system
-Sunroof
-Sports Package
-Aero Package (not the nismo)
-Winter Package

I paid 27,400 + tax- That was last August. I think 27,000 is a fair price for the car considering all that it has. Thank your mom for getting such a cool car that you get to drive and good luck!

flashback great choice on that CAR!!!!! To get the Nismo kit and put it on took some time I heard (up to 8 months) from my friends father when i got my car witht he full "sports" package... IMO, its like night and day with this body kit compared to a stock G35 but love em both. As you can see I have the same exact car exterior wise. Full Nismo kit, I did have the sports rims and suspension but took it out. If your looking for a G, definitely get this one. Great car ..
Good luck with you and your mom's decision!! Let us know what your getting. Here's a few pics of mine. Martin

I agree, that one looks pretty good. Go for it.

BTW shodog, you've only seen one with the factory kit? I see them all the time here in DFW...

Re: Mom about to buy a G35 Sedan, I have a few Q's!

Once again, thanks for all of your input, sounds like she should grab this one while she canm i'll pass the message on to her, shes going to go look at it later today, and i hoipe she gets it and ya i'm sure i'll have a lot of fun with it as well

for hte guy who asked, i actually have an 02 VW GTI that i wouldn't trade for anything, i really just love the car and its great(no, its not quite a g35 in the looks or performance category), but its still great in its own way, and i'm sure some of you understand that

anyways thanks again for the input and i'll let you know how things go today!

Martin, you're car is beautiful, your rims are suprisingly similar to mine. I have the C4 Racing hart 245/35/19. I'm told by Racing Hart that I have the only G Sedan in the country with those rims, that they are aware of anyway. I was just shocked how similar they were. I thought they were C4's until I saw your signature block. Great car.
