HR Y Pipe

Just installed a HR Y-Pipe from a 2008 Z yesterday to complement my coupe mid pipe and Z-tube. The setup sounds great without being too intrusive and is a solid improvement on the coupe mid pipe.

Did you notice more of a difference in sound when installed? If so was it a big one?

It is a pretty drastic difference in sound. The exhaust note is louder as well as more rich/throaty and can be heard inside the car throughout more of the rev range.

^+1 on the big difference in sound.

I listen to my radio less now.

GREAT great inexpensive mod for the sedan.

Z-Tube
HR Y-Pipe
06 Coupe Mid-Pipe
06 Coupe RevUp Airbox

+1 on the great mod. I don't know if I'd say it were louder (probably in denial)... but definitely deeper more aggressive sound. For reference, I've got -

Stillen Intake
Z-tube
HR Y-pipe
Fujitsubo

My intake/induction setup so far is:

Z-Tube w/ K&N drop in
Motordyne plenum spacer
HR Y-Pipe
Coupe Mid-Pipe

I'm carefully walking the yes/no line on getting the HKS axle back because although I'd love a very aggressive and noticeable sound, I'm not sure if I'd like to deal with it on a daily basis. I had a full HKS cat back on my 1995 Nissan 300ZX which sounded like heaven but the police attention and monthly stack of exhaust tickets got old really fast so I ended up taking it off.

Rev-up airbox, OEM Z-Tube, 5/16ths spacer, HR Y-Pipe off a 2008 Z, Sedan middy

One of the things I'm loving about the warmer weather is having the sunroof open and hearing that sweet intake and exhaust note. I love the deep drone. I think these are the best mods anyone can do to a G. Can't wait to finish it off with the HKS Sport axle back.

i really wish someone would do thru the trouble of getting some dyno numbers on this HR y-pipe.

it does sound nice from a lot of clips i've heard. but frankly i'm not putting that money up just for sound.

The HR also helped to improve my throttle response and made the shifts crisper. Couldn't give you a technical reason for this, but it definitely made a difference.

Check this out

I have one on my car, and with or without a power gain I couldn't live without it now. I was able to pick mine up for $50 shipped, and at this price (or more) it is a huge improvement over stock.

The post only talks about peak. I'd be interested in seeing corrected values (may be corrected), but the values are all within a margin of error.

I'd also be interested in seeing the curves, since there may be HP gains elsewhere and not just on peak.
