Thumbs up 350z unrevised suspension question

Hey guys I just got an unrevised 350z full suspension for my g sedan sport but I was wondering if I should use the 350z shocks or just use my stock sport shocks. Also I was wondering if maybe by using the 350z shocks the car would sit a little lower then with the stock sport shocks (I thought it but had to ask) Thanks guys for any help you can give me

Using the 350Z shocks will not lower your car any more. From what I remember you can use either the sport shocks or 350Z shocks with the unrevised springs.

I would use whatever shocks have fewer miles. The sedan sport springs spring rate is the same as the unrevised springs so they should be well matched. The only issue you might have is the unrevised shocks were not well matched to the the springs, resulting in a less than desirable ride. If both sets of shocks have high miles and you are paying to have them installed you might get new ones like Tokico blues for the 350z. The cost of reinstalling shocks that wear out quickly would be higher than getting new shocks now and having them installed at the same time.

I have revised 07 z springs with Tokico Blues (HP) for the Z and love the ride. It would be stiff for some, but perfect for me.

Use the Sport shocks. They pair up with the unrevised springs better than the 350Z suspension...which was changed partially because it was "bouncy".

Buying a unrevised Z suspension is a big mistake since for not much more money you can buy a revised Z suspension. The problem is in the unrevised shocks. Yes, handling is fantastic, turn in, brake dive and squat are all much superior. BUT, you pay a huge price for that much shock stiffness. Freeway comfort takes a 180 and you get a horrible amount of bounce and porposing that I found to be unliveable. I did one of the first 350Z suspension swaps back in 03, paid $150 shipped for the setup. Pulled of off when I could not stand the ride quality. Honestly, I'd run used revised Z shocks or Tokico HP before I'd run the oem sport shocks. They will work, not the most perfect combo, certainly a much better ride then running the unrevised Z shocks, will say that.

Pony up and get some Dspecs. They go well with the unrevised imo.

I have z front/non-sport G-cpe rears with stock sport shocks and I love the ride quality and handling is spot-on/crisp.

That's my setup, too, except my coupe rears are sport. I love it. I will, however, put the coupe shocks on at some point when I can 'convince' the sedan sport shocks off.

Z springs on the rear are not much lower from what I've seen, but i went with coupes because it seems to provide a more even wheel gap in front and back.

I've driven on oem sport shocks with unrevised Z springs and revised Z springs. If I hired a suspension designer to make me a suspension and if the resulting ride and drive quality of what he created rode and drove the same, I'd go into ABS and tell him to get out of the car your fired.

Yes it's cheap, yes on smooth undemanding surfaces and you get by. But when you aren't on a road that's nice and smoth, you get way too much undercontrolled movement, especially when cornering. Swapping out the sport shocks for revised Z shocks gives you superior control and 3/4" added bump stroke.

You guys that think your love'n the setup, your really missing out on what better setups have to offer. Better as in control where is supposed to be and where it's not supposed to be.

^^ Except that nobody here is talking about coilovers. LOL. However, I agree with using the matching length/damping shocks wherever possible.

My 2 cents...

I have revised 350z springs on my 05 Sport suspension G coupe. At first I went with 350z unrevised. On my way home from the shop I hit a small dip in the road, bounced out my seat and hit my head on the roof liner.

I knew then and there that the unrevised were way too bouncy in the rear.

The front spring rates are all the same across the board at 324 ft/lbs for G coupes, and 350z of of 03-07.

However, Nissan decided to stiffen up the rears to help control some of the extra bounce and it showed.

When I picked up the revised rears, my ride went back exactly how it was before with my stock G coupe sport suspension only .5" lower which is what I wanted.

I'm still using my stock shocks and have no issues so far on these Chicago streets. The 350z springs have been on since February btw

here's a couple pics to give you an idea of the height of 350z on a G coupe
