04 G35x Rear Caliper Bore Size?
04 G35x Rear Caliper Bore Size?
Posted in the brake forum but did not get a response. Hoping someone here might nbe able to help.
Just finished doing a brake job on my 04 G35x and noticed that the passenger rear caliper dust boot has a rip. Ordered a caliper rebuild kit from RockAuto to replace the boot. Unfortunately, the kit is the wrong size.
All online part sites state that the front and rear calipers have the same piston bore size: 57mm. This is not the case on my car. the rear calipers are noticeably smaller. Measured the piston and it is about 1.5" or 38mm (rough measurement at best). Does anybody have any idea what the actual bore is on the rears? Maximas and Altimas have a 35mm rear caliper bore. I am wondering if those rebuild kits would be interchangeable.
Thanks.

Don't know, but I've heard from numerous people that rebuild kits have a REALLY low success rate.... I have a tear in one of my dust shields, I'm just going to put a tad of silicone in there.
If you find out, let me know about an 05 as well, and if you have success

Managed to find out that the rear calipers on my 2004 G35x have 43mm bores. The piston itself measures around a 38mm diameter.
Centric rebuild kit part #143.42034 worked perfect. I did not have to rebuild the caliper, so I cannot comment on the pressure seal. But, the dust boot was a perfect fit.
The boot is almost too easy to replace. Do not have to remove the caliper from the car. Just extend the piston out a bit. Remove the wire snap ring with a small screwdriver and the dust boot pops off. Fit the new boot and snap in the new retaining ring and you are set.
