I was just about home from work when I pulled up on my friend in his TT. He didn't know it was me and he tried to pull on me without success. So we pull in our driveways and he says, "someday we'll go, maybe you can keep up with me". I got my standard G35 sedan and my punk neighbor has your standard 250HP TT. NO MODS on either car.
Anyone race one? Who would win?

Up to this year, the TT's max hp (w/o a chip) was 225. My friend has that version and it's pretty fast. The manual will do a 5.9 0-60. It does have a bit of turbo lag and not as much torque - believe even the auto sedan will take the TT above 60. If he's got an AUTO, you'll kill him. Not sure about the 250hp V6 TT though. I believe it's a little slower than the 4-banger due to weight.

I'd have to look it up--I was thinking the new 3.2 was faster and getting nearer to being respectable, as far as speed anyway (the TT's are known for having lots of problems--check out myaudittsucks.com sometime if you want some laughs...) anyway, unless its the new one you should win if you have the mt (can't remember if that was in your sig) heck you might well even take it w/ the auto. If he's got the new one w/ awd...pretty close to call.

I don't mind the looks of the TT and I love the whip stitch leather interior, but I'd be wary of owning one with all the problems vw/audi's have had for years...

Tt's are not worth the $ for the porr performance un less you spend big ching to make them faster

 

His is black with tan baseball leather stitching on the inside with the 6 cylinder 250HP engine. Pretty sharp looking car.

They just did a test between Boxter S, 350z roadtster,Audi TT and Z4, the TT was last in everything and did 0-60 in like 6.4-5 , all manuals!! I think it was umm, car and driver.

I always thought that Audi TT and Saab 9-3 are seriously overpriced. I don't care if they have turbochargers or what, no four cylinders vehicle is worth more than $35k.

I raced one from a roll @ 70 MPH and pulled away from it with another person in my car. He had merged on the interstate, saw my lights in his rear view then slowed down for me to get beside him. He floored it a split second before I did and I still pulled on him... not by much however. It was extremely gradual.

Before my friend bought his TT, our other friend sent him the link to myaudittsucks. It was pretty hilarious. I've read that Audis have gotten a lot better in the past year or so. As far as the cost of hopping them up, $500 will get you a new Audi-installed chip that will take the 4-cyl up to 250hp. I don't really think any German car is all that reliable.

It's a nice fast, seriously fun little sports car. But like twiblue pointed out I wouldn't have spent 37 grand on it to begin with - especially given their reputation for problems. Of course there are more Audis in Chicago than you can shake a stick at. You should see how many M3s are tooling around the neighborhoods these days. People who have enough cash don't really seem to care that much.
