Headlight ruined?

Well i thought i would try something else besides plastx to clear up my headlights. I bought the wet sanding kit, and totally trashed my headlights. I took it to the shop and this is what it looks like after they tried buffing out the scratches. Anyway I can fix this or am I just screwed?

it is fixable. I have had much worse but for the time in money almost be better getting some new lens or the whole housing. Is it only on the outside or did you attempt to do the inside?

oh really? then your fine! Ok I recommend getting this kit:

http://www.tcpglobal.com/AutoBodyDep...emNo=MMM+39008

You can find it at almost any local auto parts store. Or cheaper on google. Anyways the ones for 200$ usually are the china crap. I bought some because I am doing a retro fit projectors and they are very poor quality compared to OEM. The lens is very hard to come by, the dealer sells only the whole housing. Your only chance is ebay, craigs, etc. Very unlikely. Just try to clean up what you have! And get some plastx it is a slight abrasive and works as a great polish you just have to really work it! Goodluck!

you need to sand it with a much finer grit, then compound and polish it; they'll look much better!

If only our headlights didnt haze inside

I have done inside and out :O . WOuld not recommend to anyone!

Also when you use the kit at the higher grade sandpaper near the end, really take your time and go over it over and over again. You want it as clear as possible prior to polish good luck

What I did on my previous car which contained oxidation and residue that was imprinted on it.

What you need: Soap, water, 800 , 1000, 1500, 2000 Grit Sand Paper, Polisher.
Method Used: Wet Sanding

Headlight must be wet at all time. In a cup, put soap (dish washing) and water, and then dip the 800 grit paper into. From it, take the wet sanding paper and start to sand down the headlight one section at a time. Remember, to keep dipping back and forth into the cup and use new sand paper at some point. Keeping doing that until the headlight isnt fully yellowed, and blurred to the point you cant see through it. Repeat this step with a new cup of water and soap for each grit. (Make sure you wash the headlight after each grit is done)

After you reach 2000, you will notice how smooth and fine the headlight has become. Now, you take your headlight polisher, and use the buffer to polish it. Now my friend you have brand new headlights in about 2 hrs (1 hr each time). Wax it off, and your good to go. Good luck.
