Just got XM Radio!

It's awesome. Not sure how many out there are driving '03's, but I have no sat hookup available. I found the Delphi Roady2 and it rocks. The wireless FM modulator sucks so I used the cassette adapter. I tried to bury the wires as much as possible and I guess it passes OK. No screwdriver required. Hope it doesn't look too bad. I put the antenna on the dash in the passenger side corner with no dropouts.

It's $129 with a free remote at www.xmfan.com XM is also giving a free home hookup kit by mail when you buy it. Nice deal.

It's nice to be able to tolerate the radio again. Chicago stations suck. Here is a photo of the install:

Re: Just got XM Radio!

How long is the tape wire, and where do you get power for it? I been wanting to get the factory one, but eventually I might want to just replace the whole deck, so its not cost effective for me.

Re: Just got XM Radio!

The tape wire is about 3 feet long, but I routed it through the ashtray and under the console. I did the same thing with the power supply coming from the console. It does the job for the time-being, I guess.

One of these days, I'm going to tear the entire head unit out when a good double-din flatscreen (hate the screen that motors out) with Nav hookup appears. There's a Kenwood out right now that has all that, but it's expensive, the panel is kind of rounded and I'm not all that hot on Kenwood. I know they're coming though.

Re: Just got XM Radio!

I bought mine today and also installed it like yours for now. I like the idea I can take it in and put it on the house stereo as well.

Excellent. Hope you like it. I just wish I didn't have to wait 10 weeks to get the home kit. Oh well.
