Unrevised / Revised 350Z Springs for '04 Sedan Sport Suspension

Okay, firstly i've been going through every post i could find on this forum regarding the use of 350z springs on a '04 g35 sedan and couldn't really find a definitive answer.

What i'm trying to decide whether or not to use the revised or unrevised 350z springs for use on a '04 sedan with sport suspension without needing to upgrade my existing shocks.

One argument i see is that the revised springs should work well with sport suspension, while another is that unrevised springs should be used because of a potential dampening issue with the stiffer revised spring.

Anyone have additional thoughts on this who have a similar set-up?

I'd like to go the spring route as its inexpensive, but if its too much of a hassle, i'll just go with some Tein Basics and be done with it.

Thanks in advanced!
Dan

The unrevised Z/G springs have the same spring rates as our sport sedans. So you can swap them without changing the struts/shocks. So if you are going to use your OEM sport shocks/struts, go with the unrevised springs. The struts/shocks will be compressed more, which some argue wear the shocks/struts faster. I've been riding on OEM sport shocks/struts with Z front and unrevised G35 coupe springs for 15K miles and havent had any issues. The car rides the same, just an inch lower. Im planning on changing the struts/shocks around 60K anyway to ones from a 350Z.

If you already have alot of mileage on the stock struts/shocks, it would be best to just swap everything. And if you do swap everything, go with the revised springs since its more aggresive and stiffer in the rear.

Go revised if you are set on the z swap. They will not cause any wear on the sport shocks. I have been running this set up for 80,000 miles and my shocks are perfect. Just know that at some point you will want to go lower as the z drop in minor. So it may be better to save up and just buy coilovers the first time out. I wish I would have done that. You can find a decent used set between $600 and a grand.

Forgot to explain why not unrevised, they have a lot of bounce at low speeds, so spead bumps are awful and dips in the road willl make the entire car bounce. That is why they were revised later on.

Thanks guys for the very informative posts. That definitely clears up some confusion I had!

Right now i'm leaning towards the coil-overs - probably Tein Basics, as i have almost 70k on the original struts, so its probably more effective to just go with the coilovers out of the gate.

Thanks again!

You should go with revised 100%! And no, that's not because I just happen to have a set for sale (https://g35driver.com/forums/suspens...d-z-rears.html) How dare you even imply that I would post just to try and sell some springs! The very thought of it!
