if you're filling up 30-40 miles after the light comes on then that is about right.

I don't speak gallons but I never let my car get that close to empty, I drive at about half a tank and get gas when it's at a quarter or eighth.

Same here, I've put 18+ gallons. I gotten great highway mileage, over 450 miles per tank once.

I can only fit 15-17 gallons, even with the light on at times..

I was down to *** today before I reached home from a 2600 mile road trip (8 days). I wanted to wait to fill up. 18.3 gallons. 470 miles.

Total trip, 24.7 mpg. Slightly better mileage with premium, but I don't know if it is enough better to make up for the higher cost.

I've never noticed a performance problem with 87 on my 04 sedan. Just, possibly, 1 or 2 mpg. And, on this trip, some of the difference might have been that premium may have been all gas, vs ethanol in lower grades.

Good to know that I can get up to 100 miles with the light on. The most I ever put in the tank was 18.09. I can now drive with confidence with my yellow light on. I always make fun of my wife because she will fill up any time she is under a half tank. She panics when she gets in my car and sees it under 1/4 tank.

Even with the best case of 17 gallons to fill up when the light comes on, that is still only 3 gallons. On the highway, maybe, at best, 75 miles. Of worry.I worry if there is less than 30 miles to go when the light comes on.

My math says 25.68 MPG. You must be using that new math they are teaching the kids these days.

I'm guessing 24.7 was for the entire 2600 mile trip and the 25.68 was the last tank.

Yes. Especially since I said the total trip was 24.7

It would have been nice to have gone 2600 miles on just 18 gallons, but I don't think a person could do that, even with the Chevy Volt. Drive 150 miles. Stop, charge it up overnight. Drive 150 miles. Do it again.
