03/04/05's with original HU and working CD?
Hi all,
Just wanted to get a feel of especially the 1st wave of 03/04's that are still on the original HU and working CD? The reason I asked is because I have an 05 with the stuck cd tray problem just like many people on this forum.
I purchased a OEM HU from a 06 coupe and will be swapping it out soon. I know these HU have problems with the CD but to prolong and hopefully get some life out of this replacement, do you think if I random only 1 cd (instead of random on all, which is what I used to do) help? Since this would eliminate the mechanism from moving between cd to cd thus extending it's life?
If this OEM HU fails again, then I'll just have to stay with my PAC AAI-NIS2 or go with DD ($$$$$$$).
Just wanted to see how most of these CD trays are stuck (aside from the unit being sh*tty itself). Are people shuffling the songs between all CDs.
What about 06's? A lot of stuck CDs as well?
Thanks...

My 03 had the classic stuck CD + batt drain problem when I got it.
I took out the radio and removed the actual cd changer unit itself, leaving everything else, put it back together and it works fine (no cd obviously)
I just use the tape deck to play stuff off my MP3 player until I get everything I need to do the sound system the way I want it.

When I got the G35 used 3 years ago, it already came with the CD F0 changer error. I got that replaced under warranty about a month after the purchase. Now it's been working OK except for the #4 CD slot not able to take in a CD properly. I don't use the random play feature on the changer, I just play all my CD's in order and sometimes hit the repeat feature as well.

I wonder if the 03/04 share the same cd changer as the 05/06. From what you are saying, it leads me to think these cd changers break down based on usage. Maybe yours is still good because you hardly use it. Seems like more 03/04 have this problem than 05/06.

Oh yeah...forgot the pre-05's don't have mp3 capability. I think they may still share some parts though, otherwise why would 03 - 06 have the same cd problem? Definitely a faulty part somewhere and Nissan doesn't want to admit it.

i got my 05 in april 08. i think it was the origional radio. i had to have it replaced because it just wouldnt read any disk, then again cause it wouldnt hold eq settings. the last one i had worked fine, but i switched to DD anyway.
if you look at an actual unit from the 05, its got the opening and space for a tape player, just no mechanism in there.
