Red face Auto Headlight Issue

Well i've searched to try and find an answer with no luck. Today my auto headlights decided to kick on with it normal light out and now they stay on.. Didn't flip any switches and was driving normal when they all of a sudden came on. tried to turn them off then back to auto and restart the car with no results. seems like the v36 has a sensitivity setting but didnt see anything about the v35 without using a tool. the only other weird thing i dont see how it would be related is the code p0442 came on at about the same time (within minutes) of that happening, and fuel cap was tight. so not too sure, nothing fell in front of the sensors either, and windshield is clear as day.
