*HELP* Questions about G35 Sedan
Hey everyone,
I am a complete newbie when it comes to G35's I have no experience and have no idea about the car so I decided to sign up here and ask a few questions. If anyone could give me answers on any one of my questions that would be greatly appreciated.
I recently sold my S2000 and I am looking to buy something a little cheaper but still reliable and that will get me around with no problem.
I found a local deal for a 2003 G35 Sedan but it has a 180,000KM (111,846MILES) for pretty cheap.
So my questions are....
How good are these engines assuming they were taken care of, will they last me a while? I drive about 15,000 - 20,000km a year so if it would last another 100k without having any problems I would be more then happy.
Is there anything I should look out for when I go and see the car? Any known problems with this year?
What major maintenance needs to be done at this high mileage? I was looking at a few Lexus IS300's and I found that the timing belt/water pump is the big maintenance that costs the most.
I plan on taking the car to my mechanic and have a full inspection as well as a compression test before purchasing of course.
I'm not sure what else to ask but if anyone could give me a heads up on anything they can think of for me to check out that would be great.
Thanks in advanced!
Jimmy

I've found the Nissan engines to be very reliable. I had an altima with over 200,000 miles that was killed by a deer. My '97 Max., with a motor similar to the G35 motor has 188,000 miles and going strong. The only weak point I've found is that on all my Nissans, around 120,000 miles the thermostat sticks in the open position. Also replaced the alternator on both the alitima and Max. around 160,000 miles.

How much is cheap??
The engine will never die, I am not an expert or anything, but I have seen many of these cars with a lot of miles, and also heard people talk about how reliable it is, in the neighborhood of one of the best Nissan's engines, VQL or something (search the forums)
I was a BMW, and Honda owner myself and I am more than satisfied with the G.
If you get it, no matter what they have done to it, and what your mechanic tells you, do a complete tune up, all the fluids (engine, tranny, diff, steering, coolant, etc), filters (oil, fuel, cabin, etc), plugs, and you should be good!
I bought mine with 80KkM, and I am now at like 115 or something, never had any issues.
Good luck with the buy!
