2005 Infiniti G35X vs. 2005 Volvo S60 T5 Stage 1 (300hp) :(

Does anybody tried to race with S60 T5 AT Stage 1?
As I know 2005 S60 T5 AT has 260 hp 260ft/lb stock and 0-60 - 6.8 s. for 5AT and 6.5 for 5MT. I've seen one movie with G35 coupe vs S60 T5 AT and S60 won the race. You can check it here:
So if I right S60 T5 Stage 1 with 300 hp and 286 ft/lb will smoke the G35X AT.

Friend of mine wants Volvo S60 but I'm saying that G35X is better =)

The Volvo S60 T5 is front wheel drive which we all know sucks, especially when you start increasing the power. There is no AWD option with the T5, only the 2.5, therefore the G35X wins.

And what about the Volvo interior, looks like its from the eighties.

The depicted Volvo has a lot more than a Stage I chip. If you're friend truely wants performance, then the G is the answer. If he wants to go fast straight, then there are FAR better options than a Volvo. Reliability blows with Volvos, handling isn't that great, and the car just isn't that sporting. The aftermarket blows for the car as well. There just isn't much of a following.

Add a few mods to a G, and it would be right there with that Stage II S60 and run circles around it on a road course.

i never knew the S60 was wrong wheel drive. I do like the sleeper look to the S60R and especially the V70R wagon.

I owned Volvo S80 T6 Stage 1 (321hp and 336 ft/lb) also with wrong wheel drive but it was OK even in rain or snow. Can't tell that I was scared even once with no traction at front wheels, the car did it's job well
Interior is good and well balanced, easy-for-daily-use.
As I remember in S60 it's almost the same as in my S80.

I'm not sure that S60 T5 S1 will be easily to smoke...

I think you are right that Volvo on the video is not stock...
I can't find any 0-60 times for Volvo S60 T5 S1 Did some research - no results.

I'll tell my friend to think about G35 with twin-turbo mod =) That's for sure FAST!

Volvo reliability is amazing...

Everything else about the car sucks. It's very ugly and unmoddable.

If you were talking about an old school 240, I'd say yes. Later model Volvos have relatively poor long term reliability. Volvo has consistently been below the industry average for repairs. 2009 didn't fair any better.

I've made a request to BSR about 0-60 times for Stage 1 upgrade. Hope they answer.
So at least we can check how fast it is.

P.S. I had no problems with my S80 and in my case reliability was good. But repair costs were a little bit high =)

I've received the answer from a tuning company, they don't do 0-60 measurements, but they have this data:

50-75 mph 3.8 s. (3rd gear)
50-87.5 mph 8.0 s. (4th gear)
62.5-93.75 mph 7.0 s. (4th gear)

I actually decided not to buy a Volvo because of their reliability. I like their styling and think the interior is pretty nice.

My friend has an S60R/6MT/AWD and I think it would beat my car pretty badly. Maybe it just seems faster because he drives like a bat out of hell.

not sure about much, but i find it pretty doubtful you'll find a turbo setup, or a sc setup for that matter, that will work with the x... their designed to work with a different setup. shoot an email to stillen, honestly since i haven't seen it done, i wouldn't even ask one of the fi guru's on the forum, because then it's just theory. the engine is the same but the drivetrain and computer are completely different.

I've made a research and several members of this forum installed TT or SC to their G35X. So it can be done. I'm not sure what is highest possible HP and TRQ for X but 350HP will be enough...
