need help...vibration...
After I put my 18" Cypher couple of mos ago, my steering wheel vibrates at 60 mph. I read about the hubcentric rings, and just recently installed them on my wheels. I did balancing the wheels and all, but the vibration still there. What should I do?
Thanks,
Buche

Re: need help...vibration...
I have always noticed certain places in the road where I get a tad of steering wheel vibration, on most cars I have had, so sometimes it is the road, even though it appears nice and smooth, we have a spot here, a relatively new stretch of interstate where I notice some, but my last car also did it there, so I know it's not my G.

Re: need help...vibration...
Obviously you have to pay to demount, then balance on Hunter 9700 [which is more expensive to pay for the longer time and more expensive machine] then fix the wheels, then remount the tires then balance the total assembly.
Probably $40 to $200 per wheel [if you have to repair the wheel].
Don't understand why members don't check wheels before the tires are first mounted.......draw a picture of EACH wheel [number each wheel inside] and reference imbalance from valve stem hole [inside and out].
That way when you change tires you can check the wheels each time..........quick and dirty [less expensive on a srtandard balancer] in 3 minutes each.
Precision and perfect vibration free isn't cheap - most won't spend the money or time.
I always point out that tire and wheel maintainence can cost more than the tires..........even $250 ones.
A standard radial force balance on a Hunter 9700 is roughly $25 in Atlanta plus some additional amount if the tire must be rotated on rim to minimize radial forces.
Wheel repair is $140-$200 each plus some extra to achieve oem spec for runout.........not really worth it unless the wheel is forged as cast [many/most] won't stay round.
