I come in piece from the general, GSedan Q's...

Nice board, I am one of the owners of www.ls1tech.com and someone gave me this link.

I am looking at maybe getting a G35 Sedan, AWD most likely.

Now, is the RWD G35 horrible in snow? I am in Chicago?

How fast are bolton GSedans going? Not with blower or turbos, just light boltons.

What are they speed limited to?

AWD is 200-300 lbs heavier, is it doomed to be a 14.5 car stock or slower?

If you check in the Northen Cali section, memebers just finished a dyno day last weekend and their numbers and mods are posted. Or if you want other numbers look for the thread in this section called ran against a 350.. Someone has a very modded sedan and provides amny numbers that might help you out.

Hi!
My G35X ran 14.7x @ 94 with a K+N filter....I'm shooting for 13.90's with ALL of the bolt-ons (exhaust, intake, plenum, convertor, cats, pullies, chip)
I wouldn't expect much faster without FI

Good luck with your decision.

Welcome.

I cannot answer your question but I do want to let you know that as a fellow American muscle car owner (albeit it won’t run 10’s in the 1/4), I am very happy with the G35. It feels much different than our Saleen obviously but it is quite fun to drive. The ergonomics, fit and finish are a grades above our Ford-based car. If living in a climate like you, I would likely take the hit in additional vehicle weight and get AWD.

Good luck.

Welcome aboard PSJ,

Your choice of a G35x is a great one, and had it been available when I bought my Sedan, I would have seriously considered one.

My '03 Garnet Sedan with snows was just fine in the winter months...no issues whatsover. I had Blizzaks on the Sedan which were good, and now have Yokohama's on my Coupe with are fine too.

From what I've read, from the factory the A/T Sedans are limited to about 145 mph.
A technosquare reflash, of course, would change that.

My understanding is that the AWD copies are as quick as the RWD's and respond as well to mods.
Not sure if they'll attain 10's tho...... not even with TT.

Welcome to the boards. I've visted ls1tech.com a few times out of curiosity and I must say it is a good board with knowledgeable people. Always admired the LS1 - LS6 engines. The VQ35DE is a great engine and all but I sure wouldn't mind having a LS1 in my G sedan. =)

Hey, John.

I wouldn't even worry about winters with the RWD. You've already got RWD, right? After driving my parents' POS '83 Grand Marquis and '79 Bonneville, my sister's '79 Gran Prix and numerous trucks, winter is cake with this thing. As long as you've got all-seasons, you'll be fine. If you want to feel really secure, throw 2 50-lb sandbags in the trunk.

People seem to think you need a 4x4 to drive anywhere north of Georgia.

I agree about the winter. My dad has the non-x sedan on all-seasons, and in chicago you'll be fine since almost all the roads are flat. Snow tires are only necessary getting started from a stop up a hill w/ RWD.

Get AWD if you can live with an automatic and soft suspension. Anyway, in a heavy snowfall, I'd feel safer in a RWD car with snow tires than an AWD car with all-season tires. Snow tires do a lot more than get you moving up hills, they make a huge difference in braking and turning in the snow as well. I live in the northeast, and have been fine with my 6MT in the snow, but I've always used snows on my cars; whether AWD, FWD or RWD.

I agree completely...
Driving in snow is ail about turning & stopping.

I use snows all the way arround.
I will be mounting some new Nokians this year.

Re: I come in piece from the general, GSedan Q's...

We purchaed our G35 sedan last January and brought it to Chicago from New Jersey. We experienced no issues with winter traction with the standard all season tires. Since I now have about 21K miles on those tires, I will be putting Blizzaks on the 17" factory sport rims this season and going to 18" rims with high performance tires for next spring - fall. I also have a '99 Mustang Cobra convertible (about 440 hp) that I drive for fun. You will appreciate the G35, it's a nice ride!

Hey what's up ProStockJohn, I'm a member of LS1tech.com and I'm in the same boat as you. I'm getting rid of my 98 Z28 and getting a 05 G35 Sedan. From what I'm seen on this board they run low 14's to high 13's with bolt ons, the AWD versions seem to be running a few tenths slower from what I've read. I just fell in love with these cars after riding in my buddies Maxima.

Re: I come in piece from the general, GSedan Q's...

well, with a 6-speed sedan (x not available in 6-speed), 300whp n/a as attainable. the only non-bolt on really would be a pair of camshafts. theres a couple 350s running this power with boltons and cams. ofcourse they are 6-speeds tho.

5 a/t's with boltons i believe are hovering as high as 280whp.

theres intakes, plenums, full intake manifolds, throttle bodies, headers (long tube also), high flow cats, straight pipes, y-pipes, and several exhausts. [all bolt ons]

also, underdrive pulleys and lightened cranks help the car a lot as well. there is a popular ecu reflash by technosquare that mainly raises the redline to 7100.

the attessa awd should be able to handle 400awhp. theres an fx35 awd with a procharger. good luck!

for reference i'm running around 260whp on a 5a/t sedan rwd with all the boltons i listed earlier. with cams i could probably put out 275whp depending on how aggresive i went. it should be enough to run low 14's, or high 13's with a new torque convertor. good luck!
