Difficulty in changing to 04.5 5AT shift ****?
I sat in a Sedan in the showroom today waiting for my wheels and saw the new 04.5 shift ****.. I like it ALOT better.. not as big and bulky. Does anyone know how much they run, and also how difficult it would be to swap one in?

If that's the case, it can't be the same shifter as the '03 5AT. Mine was all mechanical inside, just a simple metal plunger that was inside the shaft. No solenoid involved.
Can you take a couple of pictures of your shifter and post them or email them to me?

Re: Difficulty in changing to 04.5 5AT shift ****?
Dudes,
Grubbs is smoking dope! I did my '03.5 to the 04 shift **** in about 20 minutes. All you need is the shift **** and the compression adapter, part # 34951-CG000. It's the same **** in the AT 350Z. Sorry for the fuzzy pic above but light and close up equaled fuzz from my camera in macro mode. Remove the old **** by lowering the bottom housing with a screwdriver and carefully remove the clip. It will shoot out if you go at it hard. take off the **** and the white adapter on top of the shift column. Put the blue adapter on the top of the column, the fitting is the same. Put the new handle on and test that the button releases the shift lock. Then, what I did was put a grocery store bag over the column letting the column poke a hole in the bag. It gave a nice tight fit so no metal dust would enter the interior. I put the **** back on and got a hack saw and sawed new slots into the column. the old slots are too low but will be hidden by the 04 ****. I pushed the **** down on the column, not the button, while sawing and I sawed where the slots are on the 04 ****. After sawing a groove that was visible, I tested the clip to make sure it fit well and once it did, I removed the bag carefully and tossed it, reassembled the **** and viola, I was done - an 03.5 G with an 94 ****! Nice mod if I say so myself. The button toward the radio is way easier than the side button and it is smaller!!!
