Gas Mileage
somthing is not right. I have an 04, 6sp and my worst tanks are 19-20 mpg. If I grandma it on the highway (keep it below 75) I can approach 27-29. Other factors: (a) in the northeast we get a lower grade of gas for the winter which reduces mpg by 1-2; (b) heavy/wider wheels do reduce mpg's also.
good luck.
good luck.
Check the air filter
Change oil and oil filter
Change your diff fluid
Change your trans fluid
Check your tire pressure
All these will effect your gas millage.
Maintain your car and it'll smile back at ya.

^ oh sorry man. That did kinda sound like I was griping at you, not my intention. I knew he was talking about per tank, but as I showed, that doesn't really mean anything. The only way to measure fuel economy is with a precise measurement of both fuel and distance traveled. For that matter, if I were to go by the odometer on my car, I should actually be multiplying the mileage by 1.04 because of the speedometer/odometer inaccuracy. That simple point could make the difference between 25MPG and 26MPG!
I just averaged 24MPG on my last fill. Was a mix of 70/30 HWY/CITY. I went 370 miles before my gas light even came on.
Honestly, I've seen better mileage but since I switched to my coupe 19's with 245/40 OEM Potenza's my MPG has gone down a little.

I was talking per tank, and until the light comes on, sorry I did not make that
clear, according to my calculations it come out to 18-19 per gallon in the city
and 22 per gallon on the highway, this is based on US 20 gallon tank, guess its nothing great, seems to fall in with the norm.

That's about norm really. The newer VQ37's seem more efficient. Spend a few days with an '09 G37x and it seemed to sip gas compared to my '06x.
Amazingly, my previous '03 Mustang GT with a 4.6L V8 got 25-27MPG on the highway and took 87 octane. It's ironic that trading in a V8 for a V6 ended up costing me more money in fuel since i get slightly less on the highway (21-22MPG) and have to put 91+ octane in now.

I have this same problem! As told by the trip computer, I am getting between 13-15mpg at an average of around 18-20mph. I do heavy city driving, with trips rarely longer than 5 miles
Although I did take a highway trip recently with 20-22mpg with an avg of 80-90mph
Love the car... but the mileage is the same as my JEEP!

Hey everyone,
I hav e spent quite sometime looking through the FAQ's and also all the other threads I found about gas mileage sucking on these cars. I thought I would make a post about my situation.
I have a 2005 Inifiniti G35 (6 speed) Sports Sedan. I get about 225 miles per tank. Which puts me at 14 MPG. I drive all city. I made absolutely sure on this last fillup, that I drove like a grandma. This didnt help what so ever. I know gas mileage on these cars isnt the best, but seriously 14 MPG? How are other car owners getting 18-21 city? Something possibly wrong with this?
THanks for any help! I appreciate it.

make sure these are all at spec or cleaned:
tire pressure, air filter, engine oil and filter.
18-21 are test numbers which were probably done in IDEAL situations and probably no A/C running and on a base model.
sidenote: when my E light turns on and I fill up immediatley(within 1/2 mile), its about 16 gallons.
Car would cruise ~ 1900 RPM @ 80MPH. I miss that tall 5th gear. Took a while to get used to crusing at 3000RPM @ 80MPH in the G35.
