Maintenance Nav Screen

On my odometer I calculated that I have gone 3768 miles since my oil change but on my maintenance screen its still not at 3750 yet. And yes it was reset during my oil change.

Does this maintenance screen work off GPS or something else?

Mine is never dead on either. Pretty sure the GPS takes speed, mileage and time off the sat...so i beleive it's more accurate.

Yea, I am running stock tire size. Eagle RSA 235-45-R18 with 5/32 tread left on all tires.

But I tested something out, I installed a GPS App on my phone that basically give me a speed read out, and my spedo is about 1.6mph/2% off according the app.

I set cruise at 74 and my app read 72.4mph. But I don't get what is making it be off by that much. Can low tire tread really cause such a big discrepancy ?

I am going to also test something, reset car trip, and start a trip on my phone and drive until the car says 1 or 2 miles..ect and see what my GPS app reads.

Not that much. A 0.2" reduction in diameter only translates to maybe 0.2% difference in speed.

Speedometers are usually off anyway, but rarely is it ever noticed

you phone/handheld GPS unit is like $100 bucks. You think they are DEAD on accurate?

GPS we have to normal people are ball park ranges. government GPS is dead on.

being off 18 miles isn't serious. Wait it out too 3800-3850 if it doesn't tell you about oil change maybe its something to look into. At this point your just a silly **** person

Unless the government turns the precision switch down, civilian GPS is just as accurate in the US as military. It depends greatly upon how many satellites your GPS is capable of tracking. Phone units may only track 4-5, while car units may do 7+

I was connected to 12 at the time. Yes I know it might not be 100% accurate. I guess ill just wait till the thing to pop up on my screen before I change my oil.

I have gps on my smartphone and have used the internal gps, as well as bluetooth gps module on 2 phones and both indicate that mine is off by 3 mph. It shows that I am going 3 mph faster than I am. The phone gps usually got 5-6 satellites, bluetooth gets 10 or more..so that doesn't have much to do with the accuracy of your speed.

Also I thought since the original tires were just about slicks, that that was why, but bought oe replacements and it is still the exact amount off (3mph)..

My speedometer is off by a couple kms as well, I have never remembered to reset it at the time of an oil change. I just remember. I'll give it a shot next change and see ho much it's off by.
