Warranty Question

Currently I'm looking into purchasing a new 35 but I don't have a dealer local. Closest one is about 100 miles away.

What are your guys doing about warranty service, those who are not close to a dealership.
My first guess would be you go to the closest dealer and have the problem fixed. But is there another alternative? (Besides doing the fix yourself)
I think I know the answer to this but I just want to verify my thoughts.

Thanks

Re: Warranty Question

From what I've read & heard, for routine service/ maintenance, take it too your local Nissan dealership.

Re: Warranty Question

Basic service like oil changes can be done at Nissan (uses same engine as Nissan 350Z , etc). As for warranty work, you may have to go to Infiniti, unless you can get it pre-approved at your local Nissan dealer.

Myself, I am in the same situation and use Nissan for routine services, but plan to travel to Infiniti for major milestones (like 15k, 30k). I will just make a little trip out of it since you should be able to get a loaner, will have misc TSBs done, and it's not that often (every 1.5 to 2 years for most people).

Re: Warranty Question

Do you know if people have been able to have Ininfiti service approved at their local Nissan dealer?
(i.e. break problems, electrical etc.)

Re: Warranty Question

I believe that, if there is warranty work needed, that you have to go to Infiniti. If necessary, they should tow it to the dealership for work.

Re: Warranty Question

Yeah I thought about the tow issue. But I'm 100 miles away from the nearest dealer.

I guess I may be putting too much thought into the warranty coverage. Afterall the 35 seems to be a very reliable car.

Re: Warranty Question

as far as i know all infinity dealers provide you a g35 loaner for warranty work (mine does). in that case as long as you can get your 35 there it shouldn't matter except for your loss of time. towing shouldn't enter into the picture. you can check the forum and see that the problems we have are not related to failure of the car to operate. now if you were going to buy an rx8, i'd advise against it because those get towed a lot it seems.

good luck on your purchase. you won't regret buying a g35.

Re: Warranty Question

I am 150 miles from the dealership. In the case of a car being debilitated they will tow it to they nearest dealer.
I took my car to have 3 TSB's done and called a day before to make sure the parts were in so I wouldn't have to bring my car back in a second time. They said they were in but of course when I got there the parts were "mistakenly" shipped back to Infiniti. They offered to give me a loaner, of course, but then said they would drive my car back to my home and take the loaner back. I declined since I don't trust people with my car, but it was a nice offer nontheless.
I love the fact there or no dealers within 150 miles....makes the G35 all that more distinctive in my area.
I'm not sure on the Nissan dealership...way back when I had a J30 Infiniti told me I could make special arrangements for warranty work at Nissan but that was back in '93 or so. I'm sure it's all changed, and in fact I never did need service on that car.
