I assume they bolt up, but they are different. It's the same engine.

The transmission manual is massive. Not sure what images show it best. its 346 pages.

yea it does look really close, My idea is to maybe use this along with a vh/vk v8 and make an awd v8 300zx z32, im sure it would need a custom length driveshaft made, I have located an adapter plate for the vk to be mated to a 6spd, but it should work for the auto as well....any thoughts?

Why not start with a Titan awd drivetrain?

But i'd be worried about it handling the torque.

See if you can find any supercharged G35x guys here and ask how their trans is holding up? A v8 engine will put a lot of torque through the trans.

Does the M45 (yes i know it's RWD) use the same trans as the G-sedan?

If i decide to stay rwd what would handle more power, the 6spd or the auto?..... there seems to be way more upgrades for the auto trans...

Probably much easier to uprade a manual for power than a 5AT. It's mostly the clutch and cooling on a MT right? (i'm no expert)

Depends on which manual and auto you compare...may differ make to make, model to model.

Manuals tend to have a torque rating that depends on the metals used in the gears and the gear ratios. To upgrade a manuals torque capacity, the gear ratios either need to be changed...or the gears themselves replaced with stronger alloys....both require removing the trans. Typically manual trans do not have any means of cooling other than splash lubrication from it's internal fluid supply. A different clutch will increase torque capacity, but the gears may not be able to physically hold up. I have plenty of evidence of sticky clutch + sticky tires = blown Mustang manual trans.

Automatics can usually handle far more torque and abuse. Depends on the make though, but the torque converter usually does a good job cushioning torque and allowing the trans to live behind a higher HP motor. Cooling is pretty important for autos and a big trans cooler would come in quite handy. As soon as my powertrain warranty is up, i plan on adding a cooler to my G35.

Personally, with some of the issues around the 6MT in the G35 (guys on their 2nd or even 3rd trans) and the relatively few issues with the 5AT...i'd go that route. But nothing beats a V8 engine with a manual trans. Tons of torque and instant throttle response.

How much torque you plan on putting out?
