I love people too

Well, I didn't end up with cupcakes, but I did get a 15" long gouge in my rear bumper cover......

I parked in a high-rise lot yesterday on the 12th floor (as always) away from everyone. 3 spots to the left of me, 3 spots to the right of me. Perfect.

The guy 3 spots over in the Acura TL-S is a regular, and he parks 3 floors away from everyone for the same reasons.

I come out of work to see my rear bumper cover gouged out with little curls of plastic peeling away from the cover like it was scraped with a lemon zester!! Someone backed into me and pulled away while still attached to my car.

I asked the management company to review the tape so I can pursue a claim against the other person's insurance company, only to be informed that none of the 36 cameras (no kidding) ARE AIMED TOWARDS THE PARKED CARS!!!!

Thoroughly cheesed off at this point, I commented that if someone wanted to commit a series of violent crimes, they should do so in the parking area.

"I hope not" was his response.

Further queries pertaining to them assisting me with any repairs were met with blank stares, even after noting that I pay $3500/yr for the privilege of parking there. They have made over 10 grand off of me in the last 3 years and are unwilling to PARTICIPATE in the purchase of a $400 bumper cover.

Now I get to shop for a beater because I can't even frigging park my baby in a 'safe' lot.

Ten grand buys a lot of second vehicle I could have been driving instead of paying these [synonym for rooster][synonym for lollipops] my hard-earned $$$.

I would like to find the person and 'go to work on them with a pair of pliers and a blowtorch....'

Holy crap!!! For nearly $300/month, they'd better have an on-site service center giving me free oil changes and offer a complementary detailing every 3 months. WTF!

Funny you should say that--the last lot I parked in offered 1 free car wash per week and cost $40/month less to boot!

Too bad we moved offices!

ChicagoX,

I know exactly the frustration you're experiencing. What about your auto insurance? You'll be out the deductible but maybe you can negotiate with the garage for some free parking to make up the difference.

You mentioned that you moved offices. Does anyone else from your office park there? Is there another place you and your coworkers could park conveniently? You could try to persuade them with the gentle suggestion that you and your coworkers will take your business elsewhere.

You may not want to get your insurance company involved - I can understand that. Good luck and try not to feel too vindictive. That jerk obviously isn't feeling too much pain - you deserve to feel a whole lot better than him/her.

Sheesh, between this and almost killing Matt Damon, I'd say you were born under a bad sign. I'm so flipped out about parking in Chicago. I do my best to park far from everyone and find wide open parallel spots - knock wood, not doing too bad so far.

Where are you parking anyway? You're getting ripped.
