Brake Pad Problems

As a person who is about ready to purchase a 35 I'm a bit courious about this break pad problem everyone seems to be having.

Do the 03's and 04's have the same problem?

Is the problem faulty pads or do they just ware quickly.

Seems like doing the brakes every 15K is a bit of a hassle.

Re: Brake Pad Problems

I love the brakes in my G. They really will stop on a dime. In fact, I have a hard time adjusting to the wimpy brakes of most vehicles that I've driven.

However, the performance comes at a price, and in my case, and many others, I experience a lot of brake dust and a short brake pad lifetime. Infiniti replaced my front/back pads and my front rotors at 15k miles. Some people get more, but I’m heavy footed on the gas and the brakes. This is fine with the 3/36 brake warranty, but when it expires I’ll probably learn to do my own brakes to save some cash.

I don't think it is a hassle. Great performance, free service and if you schedule it properly, a loaner car.

Re: Brake Pad Problems

Not everyone has problems with their brake pads. I replaced my front pads with EBC Greenstuffs when the car was a few weeks old. The brake dust problem is solved and the car's braking feels the same. I checked them at 7,500 miles and they were hardly worn. Granted I like to downshift a lot and I am generally not hard on my brakes...so for me at least, my G has no problem with brakes whatsoever.

Good luck with your purchase of a new G. You'll love the car.

Re: Brake Pad Problems

with 16,000 miles...I heard a grind coming from the front drivers side wheel well when my wheel is turned to the left...I scheduled an appt. to have it fixed...seems that my car needed new front rotors and brake pads... the back rotors needed to be re-surfaced and needed new brakes....all covered under warranty for 36 months or 36,000 miles.
All miles are from highway and I try downshifting as much as possible, so i thought that these OEM Pads would last a little longer.
Received a 04 g35x with satillite as a rental so I was quite happy with the outcome. Paid $0 dollars

Re: Brake Pad Problems

My back brake pads were replaced at about 8,000 miles for squeaking noise. Front pads and rotors replaced at 15,000 miles. Pads were worn and rotors could not be resurfaced. Front pads replaced at 26,000 miles for noise. Still a little noisy. All under warranty. Cost to replace front pads and rotors was about $425. This would be an annual cost for me every 15,000 miles. After the warranty is up, I will probably go to aftermarket pads. Most likely the greenstuff pads. Just need to find a mechanic....It is not a hassle to get the service done at the dealer. They should give you a loaner car for the day. I love my car and the way it drives. Gas mileage could be better, the seats could be better too. But overall, I think it is a great car. Good luck!

Re: Brake Pad Problems

I know I would be eligible for a loaner. The problem is I am 100 miles away from the nearest dealer.

My concern is getting my car to the dealer every 15K miles.
