put an '05 coupe midpipe on my '06 sedan for weight savings and I love the sound. Its a noticeable difference in tone but still soudns stock until you open it up. I already had a Z-tube on it so I don't know if that had much effect. Do it!

If you want to add more exhaust volume using OEM parts on an 05/06 sedan, this is what you do:

1) 03/04 muffler. It's about 10% smaller in size and will be louder than the 05/06 muffler.

2) HR Y-pipe.

My 03/04 sedan has the 05/06 sedan midpipe, OEM muffler, and HR Y-pipe. The car is louder than a stock 350z/coupe. I love it.

^ Number 1 is really great for for people that have an 03/04, but if you have an 05/06 imo just save up for an HKS :P

HKS was too loud for me with the CM and HR y pipe. I know, I'm old. I've been looking for an 03-04 muffler for almost a year to put on my 05.

Stock rocks! (DaveB and I might be the only people on this board to say so )

Yep with no luck.

The drone with the CM became too much. As far as exhausts go it was pretty tame. Just a little too much for me. I realized wanted a stealth approach. Quiet but quick. I also realized I bought the G because of the smooth ride and luxury,

Been there done that with the louder cars.

I love my HR y-pipe, coupe mid, and HKS lol at times i wish it was louder lol Nothing like getting a rev match in a tunnel and just nailing the gas. The noise gives me goose bumps

I don't really have a problem with the drone

The HR Y-pipe will fit just fine on an AWD. I've got one on my 05x. I'm happy with the Sedan middy and the HR Y, but I definitely want to put an HKS on it. It's just the sweetest sound.

The first one is donpisto, a member here, with what is I think a stock 06 with the HKS. The last one says it's got a Coupe middy along with the HKS. Enjoy.

For a nice, less subtle sound, yes. For performance, no.

And yea, it sounds much better with an HKS axleback

Wow...really? Never heard that before. Must mostly have to do with the HR Y-pipe, as the OEM muffler isn't loud at all. Wish I could hear that setup. I have the UT Y-pipe, which gives me some burble when downshifting. Curious to see what the HR Y-pipe looks like now....

Here's the 05/06 midpipe without HR y-pipe and just the OEM muffler (part throttle). With the HR y-pipe, the volume is increased another 10%.

Here's the 05/06 midpipe and HR y-pipe from outside the car (cold pipes, part throttle):

Here's the 05/06 midpipe and HR y-pipe from inside the car (full throttle):

I've also had the coupe midpipe and the 05/06 midpipe has a far cleaner and deeper sound and absolutely no drone.
