Acura TL vs G35

I am debating between G35 and an Acural TL. Both seem to be equally good.
Since I am positing this on a Infiniti forum, I am bound to get more positive reponses for G35. I would love to hear your comments on comparing these 2 cars.

Thanks,

Re: Acura TL vs G35

Can't loose on either one. Both in my opinion are awesome looking. Although i'm not to crazy about the smoothing out of the 2005 G35 sedan hood. But its still good looking car.

I've test driven the TL and its great car, but my g35 feels little more spotier inside. but thats just me...

Both have great rep's for quality. If it was me, i would make my decision based on the looks of the cars. Get the one that looks best to you. Or just flip a coin

Re: Acura TL vs G35

I had a 2003 G35 6MT sedan and, after getting it totalled in an accident, considered the new TL.

The TL has a great-looking interior and a lot of neat features. The TL is much quieter inside and just as, if not more, roomy. Interior detail, quality, and fit-and-finish are better than the G35. However, after driving the TL, I knew that my replacement for my 2003 G35 would be a 2004 G35.

The TL's suspension was too soft for me which made the car feel less sure-footed in turns. The softer suspension also made the car feel too "floaty" and heavy. I also felt a bit of torque steer when making turns on uneven pavement and the car I drove was an automatic (I didn't want to even consider the 6-speed in the TL because of the horrible things I've read about torque steer with that configuration).

The driving experience, plus the deal I could get on an '04 G35 versus an '04 TL, made it an obvious choice for me.

Also the new 2005 G35 sedan comes with 280hp standard on the autos. If you want 6mt, it is 298hp. Better brakes, tires, and suspension are now options. It is in another performance category now than the TL.

Re: Acura TL vs G35

I was considering both cars as well and almost bought the TL in June. I was doing as you are and did a lot of research on all the infiniti forums and Acura forums.. Before the G35 05 came out, I really liked the interior of the TL better than the G. For me, there is no comparison for the exterior – G35 all the way. I almost went with the TL in June because the car was new and I did not want to wait for a new 05 G in October. The 04 was not an option as I wanted a current model. While reading the TL fourms, I found a lot of complaints of the leather/cloth separating from the roof liner and door panels. The second time that I test drove the TL, I noticed these problems immediately. I was blown away, this was a new car with less than a 1000 miles on it. I was also very fortunate to be able to test drive both cars within a couple of hours on the same roads. One road was very ruff and the rattles in the TL were very apparent. The G that I test drove had over 8000 miles on it and was very smooth with no rattles.

After my test drive, I immediately placed an ordered the G35 05. I’m fortunate that I can wait for the car but this waiting sucks big time. Now that all the upgrades are known for the 05, I’m so glad that I waited. Obviously I’m biased now but I like the new interior of the G much better than the TL.

I don’t expect to persuade you or anyone else but if you can test drive both cars on the same day on a similar road it sure might help in making your decision. Also keep an eye out for the leather separating from the door panels on the TL

good luck

Re: Acura TL vs G35

I found also in my test drive a lot of rattles in the TL for a new car. And i read a lot on internet on WWW.vtec.net tje forum is full of commentaries about noises, vibrations engine and wheels, lost memories for the front driver seat.
Some problem exist in my 2003 accord and seems to be the same. That's why i'm going to order a 2005 g35 soon.

Re: Acura TL vs G35

Well this sums it up really well for you:

Handling, RWD, Power, Service, Warranty, Nice interior = G35

Luxury like interior, fwd, gadgets, and power = TL

Now, I had a choice and even had a deposit on a TL. I turned away after all the problems the TL has been having and glad I did. Headliners falling, brakes warping, seats tearing or too soft, dash not straight, NAV problems, Tire problems, rear tire wear problems, and so on. The TL is nice, but its just a glorified Accord. And truthfully Honda failed on that car even some articles say they did.

Re: Acura TL vs G35

Actually the G35 has more usable room than the TL does. Look at the specs.

Re: Acura TL vs G35

This comes up all the time.
I don't really see the two as a comparison.
Maybe the Maxima or TL might be a better comparison.
I don't know, the exterior of the TL always reminds me of a tricked-out Stratus.

Re: Acura TL vs G35

Looking at all the response. I have decided to wait for the new 05 G35. I am planning on a AWD version, hope the extra 20HP improves the 0-60 timing.

You made the right decision. I almost bought the TL and have no regrets.
