Clutch Pedal THUD THUMP

My clutch pedal is very loud and annoying; I'm not talking about the squeak or click when you push it to the floor. When releasing the clutch pedal, I feel the last tenth of the travel is way to slow. I can't get off the pedal fast because it will "thud" when it returns. It feels like I have to release the clutch pedal twice. Once to engage the clutch and the second to guide the last little bit of pedal travel SLOWLY (to the untouched position) without causing a noise.

This happens every time I shift, almost like I am too quick and beating the master or slave cylinders pushing the clutch back. I hope you guys got the picture and know a solution.

"Clutch pedal thud/thump/noise when fully released (other clicking when depressing). Loud enough to hear outside the car. Same noise with engine on or off. Will not make the noise if I SLOWLY release the pedal to the untouched position. Definitely feel a second step in the last tenth of travel."

Aaron

Flush the master and slave. Happened to me and a lot of others too. You got air in the system.

I flushed it two months ago. Maybe I didn't do so great of a job?

My friend actually noticed the sound the other day, I guess I was just oblivious and/or used to it.

The clutch line bleed was fine. I adjusted a threaded gold bolt so the pedal didn't jiggle before pushing on the master cylinder rod. That helped A LOT. I may look into it further because the clutch pedal is just loud...

I think this is my original clutch. I took a drive after adjusting the clutch pedal and it's so much better now.

oh, ok thats good then, the reason I asked if when u changed your clutch is because you also need to change the throw out baring. but if u reuse the old throw out baring and its worn/damaged, it to will creat a "thump" when u press on the clutch.

how did u adjust the clutch pedal?

I got under the dashboard to take a good look at the pedal. I noticed when I pressed the clutch pedal there was some extra play before it pushed on the master cylinder rod. There is a threaded gold bolt used as a "stopper" for the clutch pedal, you can't miss it. (Would be easier to understand if you got under the dashboard.) I used a 14mm wrench to loosen the nut on the bolt, enabling me to turn the bolt to push on the pedal, eliminating the extra play.

Be careful because you do not want the clutch pedal to be working the master cylinder in the untouched position. It's a simple design, so look under the dash to see what's up!
