Hey guys. I own a 03 Sedan with over 177,000 miles. The car runs great. I keep up on all of the maintenance myself with no problems. Thank you to everyone who has posted a DIY video, pic, or tip.

Two questions.
Does anyone own a G35 with this many miles?

Any tips or advice on keeping the car going another 45k - 55k miles?

 

Just keep on doing whatever you have been doing. It's working well!

 

wow, thats good. keep up the maintenance and keep the revs down...ie drive it like a grandpa and you should get another 100kmi.

As long as you take care of your car it will take care of you. I believe that if you check your car a couple times a week for any leaks or worn out parts and keep all fluids topped off the car will last you a very very long time. Remember that these are all moving parts internally so they are bound to have excess amount of wear over time and there is really nothing you can do except keep it maintained. Of course there are some parts that may fail without any warning, but that's just how life is. Before I traded my 97 maxima in for my g, I had 190k miles and it still ran good! The motor was showing its signs though (time to time it had strange noises), but that's how I got the car so I did my best to keep it running well and it didn't fail me once (besides replacing the starter).

If something were to go wrong and your car is in great shape and you still want to keep it, why not swap another motor in? That's if you still want to keep this car though. With all these new and nicer models coming out it makes it tough to decide what to do.

Thanks for the feedback. I have had some minor issues that I was able to quickly take care of. No major repairs. Like you said, with all of that wear I'm sure that something will pop up.

In the next couple of years I am going to upgrade to a 07-09 sedan. I'm totally sold on the G.

I've got 150,000 as of yesterday! Mine is also an 03.5 Sedan. Everyone here is right.. These cars are very reliable and whatever you're doing keep it up! They way I see it... I don't let ANY little thing wrong with the car go unnoticed. I always fix everything... no matter how small.

I change my oil every 2500-3000 miles with full synthetic... Use Z-max every 5,000 miles, and clean the injectors every 5 or so fill-ups... every little thing I can do to baby this thing.. it makes it well worth it.

My last oil change I used Z-max and another injector cleaner (overkill I know)... but I got 23 mpg on my move out to Virginia ;-)

 

Wow... that's at least 25,000 miles per year depending when your car was first put into service. Or one trip around the Earth each year.

I guess your car qualifies for Schedule I maintenance under "heavy duty or taxi service".

I have a meager 67K miles on my coupe which I bought new in July 2003. (In fact it is my daily driver).

But it is good to read that these cars are achieving this mileage without any major issues like failed transmissions, motor mounts and coolant systems - which are fairly common in BMWs well before that kind of mileage.

 

Wow, great to see some high mileage! Seems like you should keep doing what you're doing. At this rate my car probably has a good 15 years left in it.

 

I put 36k on my car in one year and never had an issue

I just bought an 03' G35 Sedan auto w/ 155,000 lets see how it goes. Engine is super smooth and tranny shifts fine. Interior & paint even clean.

I'll be living on this bored to make sure I get it too at least 200K

Thanks for all of the feedback. I gave my G a once over today. Cabin filter, throttle body, oil chance, air filter, z-max, etc. It's still running great. One thing that I have noticed is that some of the screws and bolts, be it brakes, throttle body, etc become harder and harder to loosen over time. Once thing that I am doing is keeping them slightly lubricated so I can unscrew them when necessary.
