it's the VDC. I use it whenever I know I am traveling on snow/ice.
an AWD G35 is still a rear wheel drive. It just has the power to send torque to the other wheels when you're slipping. At cruising speeds, you're still only using the rear wheels.
With the snow button on, it just uses 50/50 distribution up till something like 25km/h, then uses rear wheels again. Its simply to let you take off on snow or ice. At cruising speeds, you're still only using the rear wheels

Seriously though, use the snow button next time it snows and you need to climb a hill. Makes a huge difference in my opinion.
