who else has this problem?

well ive noticed that my cars body work ( rear bumper and wing) colects static. its always full of static. im not sure if my amp n subs could have something to do. or maybe poor grounding? does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on how to try and fix this? ive tried thick layers of wax to see if that will decrease the static. thanks in advance

Static on the wax surface has nothing whatsoever to do with wiring inside the car. It's just there from rubbing the surface with a polishing cloth, or in dry climates from the air rushing over it when you drive. Note that where static electricity is a problem in laboratories, special anti-static waxes must be used.

Rear bumper is always the first to get dusty. Has to do with the areodynamics of the vehicle. Basically the void left by your vehicle as it travels is filled by air rushing in that swirls around behind the vehicle and lifts dust and grime from the road.

The rear bumper "step" is always one of the first places to get dusty beccause of this

^He's dead-on. It's not just the G35 either. My Trans-Am did the same thing and it's a radically different shape.

so am i screwed with the static. cuz ive been thinking and i think imight solve this by conducting that electricity to the chassis. and yeah i figured out what you guys are saying aboutthe air in the rear. but its really weird bc the static only collects on the rear parts facing up( bumper step, wing, trunk top)

stop rubbing it too much. SRSLY

if you using MF cloth to polish it or remove wax or what ever, that's how you build up static on it, I usually discharge it by running my hand across it once I'm done detailing the car.

Go get some of those little brushes like they put on the wings of small aircraft, and line your spoiler with them

Think how bad it was for me when I would polish my Ion. Every surface would have dust or something on it immediately after polishing.
