Disconnecting Stereo/ Hvac system

Hello,

I've got the classic stereo/ hvac malfunction. No radio controls or any way to stop the A/C from blowing at full blast. I really don't feel like adressing the issue at this point.

Does anyone know a quick and easy way to disable this? I was thinking of disconnecting both for now. And started taking apart the dash and console to gain access. Can't I just remove the fuse to shut off the A/C? Has anyone tried this?

Thanks!

Common problem. Try removing the radio or A/C fuse, but replacing with an aftermarket headunit is a good solution.

Thanks! Does anyone know which fuse I need to take out? That seems much easier at this point. Funny, the owners manual always refers you to the dealer with these type of questions. Ha

Ha. Oh, I do that regularly! I think I'm beyond that phase now. I can get the radio to turn on from the wheel controls and all I get is static on each channel. I think it's done. I'm gonna try and pull the fuse - I think, just to turn off the damn A/C.

I've pulled the fuses for the blower and ac, after then I started the car, and it makes a squeling noise... I plugged all the fuses back in, and it stopped squeling... but everything is still at full blast...

Wow. Sounds like that's not the quick fix I was looking for then. ha

I guess I'll just remove everything at this point. I'm installing new suspension this weekend and do not wanna deal with this right now.

Oh well.

I would take the glove box door off and see if you can just pull the plug to the blower motor at this point..

fuse should be driver kick, you need to either get your radio repair or buy a core unit. its the power supply in the radio. repair should cost no more than 400 or buy junkyard or ebay.

I had the same problem and found a fix on here. Look to the right of your steering column, down low you will see a little vent - slotted round spot. That's the sensor for your hvac. Lay on the floor and look under the dash, there will be a little rubber tube that connects to the end of the sensor. There's a 99% chance it's unhooked, I used a flashlight and some pliers to get ahold of it, then re-connect. That solved my problem, took about 5 minutes.

I have a coupe, hope it's the same fix.

I came home from the stereo shop and was so pissed off, told my husband they screwed up my heater and I was going to raise heck. Thank goodness I found the fix here, otherwise it would have taken them tearing everything apart to find it.

Good luck!

I am also having the dreaded HVAC/Radio problem. My A/C blows non stop and the radio is dead. Is there a repair thread on this, I was told there is a circuit board that goes bad and is 9 times outta 10 the solution to this problem.

I don't think there's a repair thread.
Every comment I've ever heard was hit the dash, that will normally get you by for a while... once it breaks for good, buy a double din kit and don't look back

^In that case, I would suggest a hearing test... after all is said and done, you're still cheaper to get an aftermarket system and DD kit because the OEM system is freaking expensive, and will eventually break again.
