AWD Mods

Hi again...I'm just curious if you guys have any experience with AWD mods. I want a G35, and like the idea of doing some mods. Will the AWD be a weak point if a person started boosting engine performance/hp? What sort of mods have you done on the AWD, and how is it holding up? Thanks for all the replies, this forum is a great source of info!

Re: AWD Mods

Are you asking whether performance mods have adverse effects on the AWD system? Also what mods are you planning? IMO, the answers will be different depending on what you want to do/care about.

Here'rs a link to DocLively who has had an experience with Stillen mods. Think before you leap.

As for me, I've installed the Stillen Hi-FLo, Z-tube, Crawford V5, 5-wire ground kit, HKS muffller. My car has a little over 10K miles on it without any problems and I love it. That's the extent of my performance mods. When APS comes out with a plenum I'll probably swap that with the crawford. Beyond that I don't know. If I'm lucky I've gained 20hp.

Absolutely NO plans for FI.

most mods sold for the sedan fit the x model except for the exhasut. there is a large transfer case in the middle of the car for the all wheel drive and when i had my stillen ehxaust installed the shop had to custom rebuild part of the x pipe so it would fit around the case. result is the same but costs a couple extra dollars in labor and extra parts.
the stillen highflow air box and z tube fit on the x without a problem

good luck
