^ LOL yes, makes like a small growl, i assumed it was normal when i drove my car and first heard it lol.
dont let that scare you away.

a good test for bushings thats a no fail is
turn steering wheel all the way one direction as if u were making a U-Turn and then accelerate and let go of steering wheel (slow OFC) and if u hear a creaking noise = bad bushing.
another thing that may be annoying is that our cars tend to have some inside noises.. other than that.. its a perfect car!

chances are most 06's are almost out of warranty. I'd say we are about 1/2 way throughthe bumper to bumper model year for '06's.

Find out the "In-service" date to see if there is still any warranty left. Otherwise all these easy fixes will be left up to you

Excellent info guys - much appreciated. Having a great support forum is a huge bonus when looking for a car.

Here's an odd question - might not be so odd but anyway: my wife is really not a fan of the wood grain trim and would love to change it if we buy this car... are there kits out there of other materials I could switch it out with and if so, what are we talking price-wise?

yes people sell these trims on ebay i believe, but if u find a G in a junkyard, u can get them there. they come off quite easily.

Dane, I also like to take the VIN # and call an Infiniti dealer(if not purchasing at one) and ask them to look up service history for you. They will do it at no charge and although it may not show all oil changes etc, it should give you a sense as to whether or not the car has been maintained at least at the dealer level. Obviously not all use the dealer, but I think most do at routineservice intervals. It may give you that extra piece of mind......def go with a premium car, the bluetooth alone is worth it! I think you ill pay the same money for a premium or non premium in the secondary market, that is what I saw when I purchased my recent one.

You're not going to believe this....... the car was sold.
I had an appointment at 10 am and I got in the car at 9.30 and started driving. Right away, I called the dealership rep to confirm all was ok. He put me on hold for 2-3 minutes and came back and said "sorry but it sold last night". I was livid and still am after coming back home. How about calling me to cancel the appointment? "I was just about to call you". Sure you were. "My used car manager still wants you to come in to see other car's in this price range - we have a G35 Coupe for sale"

If I wanted a coupe I probably wouldn't be looking at the X, now would I? Does he think I just picked a random car and didn't care what I bought as long as it was in my price range. I swear, these f'in dealers are the scum of the earth.

Don't worry. Things usually happen for a reason and patience usually pays off. Just keep looking.

I don't believe you!
I found my car on Autotrader. Dealers usually don't post the right features on there, but if they have enough pics, you can tell what it has yourself. I would keep an eye out on there too if I were you. Good luck on your searches.

I still have dealers calling me from time to time from when I was looking for a specific car from like 5 years ago.

Yeah I found it on autotrader.com and spoke to the salesman about it a couple of times before today.

I went to see another one since I really wanted to test drive one today and I did. Didn't make the deal since dealer was clearly smoking something but it was a nice test drive and I like the car. Feels nimble. The brake pedal struck me as very soft - is that normal? It has long travel before it really bites.

Anyway the car was listed at 17995 and out the door they wanted nearly 22k... ludicrous. $975 prep fee.......insanity. They was no room for any negotiation apparently, even with me sitting there in person.

Got a black on black on with Premium Package lined up that I might check out later.

It's very frustrating to waste your time on this.

The same thing happened to me. I was ready to test drive the car and then I called and he said it was sold. I still haven't bought mine but am getting closer.

17995 and 22K OTD? That is insane, what is your TTL in NJ??

Don't get discouraged, just keep looking. I was on my way to look at an '04X when I found mine. There are plenty of them out there so don't settle just to get it over with.

Tax is 7% in NJ and tags is a couple hundred plus maybe a couple hundred more for registration and other mvc stuff at most. The rest was prep fee of $975, destination charge of $425 (on a used car no less) and other crap.

The black one I went to see had the most scratched up rims I've ever seen on a luxury or near-luxury car at a dealer. Its tires were also very very worn and would need almost immediate replacement so the savings on the car itself (interior nice, exterior had several flaws even with 43k on it) were negated by the work it still needed.

I will say though that test driving the one I did get a chance to drive today confirmed I've made the right choice. It's refreshing to drive a smaller car and one with some pep in its step. Thanks so much for the pointers - I'm checking the engine, the transmission etc for noises, looking at the hood hinges and playing with all the windows to make sure all was well and the car drove extremely well - it had only 35k miles. Seeing the black car also confirmed I do not want a black car - it was recently washed but you see every spec of dust on it and I also confirmed that I LOVE the light colored interior over the black interior and the seats were great as well. I had plenty of head- and legroom - the only criticism would be that I wish the steering wheel telescoped out 2-3 inches more - then it would be perfect for me. I love the smart key thing - I'm a gadget nerd so stuff like that is something I really enjoy. Overall today sucked a little bit but I'm excited about the car and look forward to seeing more of them. Maybe I can even find one for sale by a private party and skip all the dealer bs.

On autotrader for example, if you click the "side airbags" box, the amount of cars fitting the search criteria drops dramatically, but I've noticed on other models that it might be a case of the dealer simply listing the car inaccurately and therefore missing a feature the car actually has but doesn't show in search when you look for that very option specifically. If I know all the cars have the airbags as standard equipment, that would help me a great deal in finding the right car.
According to the 2006 G Brochure, the Infiniti AABS (Advanced Air Bag System) is standard. It includes dual-stage front airbags, front seat side airbags, and roof-mounted curtain airbags for front and rear seats. There's a lot of other non-airbag stuff, but I don't type very well, so I'm not even going to try...
