Educate the noob - what are some "must-do" mods for the G35?
My other car is a small-block V8 (5.7L) so if the G was to be modded seriously like this, it would be F.I. At 400 HP, the LS2 should be a blast in a car this size but TTs probably add equal power or more (no idea) and you can "un-do" the mod and sell the turbos if you want to go back to stock.
At 400hp, the VQ is at it's limits. A 400hp/400ft lbs torque LS2 is at it's stock hp. It should be good for another 50hp na? Add a magnuson and it's up to 650hp w/o breaking a sweat?
I'd do this to my sedan. At this point my 03 sedan's resale is practically nil.

Yeah add a nice sized cam and some heads to the LS2 and you should pick up 100 HP with a tune fairly easily. Those engines love mods. Of course you can then supercharge the LS2 and it's a totally different ball-game and you'll likely need new axles, new transmission and other parts to avoid destroying the G the first time you go WOT haha
I have a little more than 100 RWHP to go before my transmission needs an upgrade in my Magnum but I'm done modding that car.
The G should get some minor stuff but more than likely no serious engine mods for years to come.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

I think ttrank would disagree with you. I understand his motor is seriously built but it's still a VQ.
Waiting.
Still waiting.

I guess it depends how much effort you want to go to and what your power goals are. 400 reliable whp is pretty realistic for 5 grand (local guy is doing kits, dyno proven) and a weekend's work...for someone who knows what he's doing, not me, LOL!
A V8 swap seems pretty major, though I haven't looked into it at all. Plus a quick search tells me the Ls is about 130lbs heavier. Would mess with the handling, IMO.

It's not 130lbs heavier than a VQ35 with a set of turbos, intercooler and all the extra piping.
The other issue is the ecu hacks we doggy doors have to do with any major engine crap.
The LS motor would run on it's own ecu while all the BCM functions would work off the G ecu.

My friend used to have a g35 coupe supercharged with the 400hp/tq. Anytime he'd floor it in first OR second he'd go sideways and it was less then 60 degrees outside especially
