Educate the noob - what are some "must-do" mods for the G35?
Educate the noob - what are some "must-do" mods for the G35?
I've seen a couple of threads about the z-tube, some covers for the engine compartment, and other stuff but what would you recommend as good upgrades on a small budget? I have between $6000-$7000 into my other car in mods alone so I'm not doing that again - I'm thinking in the hundreds for the G35 so what should I get?
Is there a handheld tuner/OBD reader I can buy for little money to read error codes or even program the car with? For my other car, there are a couple of hand helds available at various price points and various capacities depending on the level of modification your car has etc.
I've searched a bit for it obviously but it would help a lot of someone who's already "the basics" could recommend which items might work for me?
I'm a fan of both "go" and "show" within reason so suggestions are welcome.

Thanks, I was thinking of quitting my day job.......
But anyhoo, read the stickies on the top of this section. You'll be much better educated for it. And it would probably answer more than just this one question

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

^This........ all you need to know.
^+1,000,000. I got the SBF intake and it added 17 HP, so I got a second one and it added another 14. So I got over 30 extra HP

In all seriousness though OP, once you get the hang of advance searching and how the forum is layed out you'll find most of your questions can be answered by a few clicks of the mouse.
The Motordyne plenum pacer is the best bang for the buck. Yields significant results for less than $250..
As for an intake, I've always thought that this is more for the sound as the results that you get from putting one on are minimal. I personally have the Popcharger/Z-tube setup and people have very mixed reviews about it. I love it and it's the loudest intake at WOT that i've heard. Cold mornings are the best. $150.
Then you should definitely think about getting an exhaust.. some of which can be had for $400--$500. The stock exhaust sounds sick but imagine how it sounds with an aftermarket exhaust. Now obviously your not going to be running a Greddy or HKS with that budget but the cheaper exhausts still get the job done. $500
There you go, 3 must-do mods for under $1000
