18s or 17s..

so today when having my car fully loaded with 5 passengers the gap in the rear from fender to tire was like | | in vertical space... maybe less
my current setup is 225 front / 245 rears should i just go 225 to avoid any rub? or should i completely go to 17s instead?
thanks for any advice, this is my current length with no passengers.

these are a bit darker

i am on z-suspension. fronts are 225/50 and rears are 245/45. At the beginning i didn't roll my fenders and i would rub going over speed bumps, once its rolled there was no rubbing. i usually have people seating in the back seat too. Tires can also play a roll on how they sit.

i have coupe rears so im not full z drop. with full load im just less than an inch from rubbing so any movement would rub them
im skeptical about rolling since im scared of my clear coat failing

if the person knows how to roll fenders correctly like using a heat gun to heat up the area that you are rolling, the paint should be fine.
