Caution!!!! 3 wheel studs snapped today!!
I don't know how it happened, but 3 wheel studs on my right rear rim snapped off today. I'm lucky the wheel didn't come loose. It's being held on by the 2 remaining studs. I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow. I had it towed to the dealer, so we'll see what happens tomorrow. I haven't done anything, or had anything done to the wheels. The last time the rims were off the car was when the dealership rotated my tires a few months ago.
The tow truck driver said it looks like an impact gun had been too aggressive on the nuts and fractured the studs. I just went out of warranty, so I'm gonna push for a good-will warranty claim.
Has anyone ever had this happen???

stuff like this happens all the time. you can just replace it yourself. i go through so many of studs because i over tighten it or someone else in a shop does. cost like a few cents in the auto store and just time to hammer them out and put back in. took me about 15 minutes to replaces 3 of my studs for my rear.

or i can write something really quick.
take off your wheel. take off your caliper, i think it's 2) 17 bolt and it comes right off. then take of your rotor. look at which 3 stud is broken. grab a hammer and bang those 3 out, be careful not to bang the other ones incase you damage the good studs. grab the studs you bought and put them in. find a washer that fits, but make sure the washer is about half an inch thick. put your lug on it and use an impact gun to tighten them. after your done with the studs just put your rotor and caliper back on and tighten everything and bam your done. lol ^o^ but dont forget, the best way to take the lugs off next time, soak it with wd-40, because sometime you over tighten them it sooner or later jams right in.

one time i had one one stud on one side of my wheel. lol it was a total of 10 studs in one day. i was like forget it, im breaking all of them. bought 20 studs, got rid of all the old ones and just replaced them. so fa the oem ones are alot stronger then the ones you buy from autozones or pepboys. but here is a write up. dont let the dealership charge you for simple stuff like this. http://www.my350z.com/forum/body-int...e-of-pics.html

Proper bolt technique is to replace all of the studs at one time. Because this is a highly sensitive component in regard to torque, all studs should be replaced at the same time so even clamping load is attained.
BTW, I would be getting new studs from the deal for free (and put them on myself) if that was the last place I had my wheels removed/installed.
