Car Turns on, but shuts off immediately.

OK guys heres the problem, on cold starts the car turns on perfectly and stays on. Lets say ive been driving it all day and shut it off and try to restart it it will just shut right off. I have to bring the rpms up just to keep it from dying. I just recently purchased a new battery and had the alternator checked, so what could it be. Any input would be appreciated. thanks

is the car stock? intake? CEL?

what your describing usually indicates a fuel problem. usually a bad fuel pump and/or relay(s). running your tank low can cause this also.

also, check spark plugs. oil leak from valve cover is common with our cars.

if you have a intake, check all clamps. check MAF sensor (dirty or cracked).

hope this helps..

I had this same exact issue and it started right after I had my battery changed. I used to have to give it some gas to keep it from stalling out. It went on for a few months & then finally/randomly went away. WEIRD.

usually when replacing a battery, the ECU sometimes resets itself. all "memory" and parameters are erased, and the ECU needs time to "reLearn".
some vehicles need 100starts before the relearn process stops. *just a thought.

again though...what your describing sounds like a fuel problem. i recommend taking it to the dealership or a local mechanic to have it diagnosed and fixed properly.

good luck -->

Same thing happened to me when I bought a new battery. I ended up cleaning the TB and doing a TB reset. Car was fine after that.
